The Stewards interviewed S.R Markey, rider of Holding Aces, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, S.R. Markey accepted that he had breached the whip guidelines for frequency and when out of contention. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that S.R. Markey was in breach of R10(3)(b) by using his whip unnecessarily after his mounts chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone and R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned S.R. Markey on this occasion. Anthony McCann, Master of S.R. Markey, attended this enquiry.
