G.B. Noonan, rider of Cregane Ned trained by Paul O'Flynn, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he lost a saddle cloth on the approach to the last fence.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Ena Baie (FR), trained by Conor O'Dwyer, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards requested a report from P.J. Rothwell, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Ricky Langford, placed first, as compared with its most recent run at Ballinrobe on the 9th of September 2022, when finishing seventh of eleven finishers and was beaten by 36lengths. John Joseph Hanlon, Authorised Representative for the trainer, reported that Ricky Langford had disappointed on its previous run and despite the trainer's best efforts, he was unable to find an explanation for that poor run. Mr. Hanlon further added that a return to form of Mr. Rothwell's yard may have helped to bring about today's improved performance. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the content of the report. Furthermore, the Stewards were satisfied that P.J. Rothwell, trainer, was in breach of Rule 147(v) in that the appropriate paper for an Authorised Representative was not lodged with the Clerk Of The Scales as required and they therefore fined him €130.

The Stewards reviewed the closing stages of this race where it appeared that Cregane Ned, ridden by G.B. Noonan, lost a saddle cloth on the approach to the last fence. Having considered the matter including a report from The Clerk Of The Scales Ms. A. O'Keeffe, that G.B. Noonan had weighed in 0.2 lbs light which was within the 1 lb limit as set out under Rule 231(i), the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

299H Tote Always SP Or Better H'cap S'chase

The Stewards enquired into possible interference jumping the last fence and on the run to the line involving Joeswayornoway, ridden by K.E Buckley, placed first, and Moonlit Sea (GB), ridden by R.J. Condon, placed second, where it appeared that Moonlit Sea met with interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. R.J. Condon, stated that he suffered interference at the last but felt that this interference had not affected his over all finishing position. K. E Buckley, stated that his mount jumped right throughout and despite his best efforts had also raced right in the closing stages, but felt he had not improved his finishing position as a result of any interference caused. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while Joeswayornoway had caused interference to Moonlit Sea, she did not improve her finishing position as a result of this interference, so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. Furthermore, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted. Mr. S. McDonogh, Acting Steward, was not present for this enquiry.
