The Stewards requested a report from John Patrick Ryan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of The Dara Man, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge had wind issues in the past and appreciated today's "Good" ground. He added that his charge won at Limerick on the 27th March and went up 13lbs since. In relation to the run at Ballinrobe on 31st May, he expressed disappointment with that performance but noted that his charge was not right in his coat. He advised that his charge was unable to handle the "Heavy" ground conditions at Listowel on the 6th June and most recently over hurdles at Sligo on the 10th July, his charge was prominent when making a mistake at the bottom of the hill which knocked him back but still stayed on to be beaten six lengths. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the content of the report.
