216A Guinness Beginners S'chase
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Alfa Mix (GB), ridden by M.P. Walsh, placed second, and Rambranlt'jac (FR), ridden by B. Hayes, placed first, where it appeared that Rambranlt'jac drifted right in the closing stages. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned, who were both of the opinion that the drifting was minor and had no affect on the result. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings and were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
P. Townend, rider of Captain Kangaroo trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount made mistakes in running and also made a respiratory noise.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Oscar Academy trained by Patrick Martin was found to have lost the left fore shoe and was also lame post race.
216B Guinness Open Gate Brewery Novice SchaseNorman Lee, trainer of Sole Pretender, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge burst a blood vessel.
216C Rockshore H'capD. McMonagle, rider of One Cool Poet trained by Matthew J. Smith, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount did not get a clear run.
A.J. Slattery, rider of Dedillon trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he had to take a check close to the line.
216D ArthurGuinness Irish EBF Corrib (F) StksThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Milestone Payment, trained by P. Twomey, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
The Stewards interviewed R.P. Whelan, rider of Surrounding, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he was in breach of Regulation 10. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that R.P. Whelan was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record, they cautioned him on this occasion.
T.P. Madden, rider of Himalayan Beauty trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount met with interference early in this race.
D. McMonagle, rider of Night Of Romance (GB) trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount met with interference early in this race.
D.P. McDonogh, rider of Voice Of Angels (GB) trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount met with interference early on and got no run in the straight.
The Stewards reviewed the unseating of W. Joyce, rider of Red Heel, in the early stages of this race. Having viewed the footage, the Stewards were satisfied that the incident was caused by Red Heel fly-leaping before the road crossing and that W. Joyce was unseated as a consequence.
216G Guinness 0.0% H'capW.J. Lee, rider of Observing trained by R.P.Cody, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount lugged right at the two furlong pole.
S.D. Bowen, rider of Darkened trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got tight for room close to the line and was eased.
M.A. Enright, rider of Rock On Pedro trained by Eoin Doyle, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got no luck in running.
The Stewards requested a report from Thomas Mullins, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Star Image (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge was unsuited by the very fast ground on its previous run and prior to that had disappointed on its first run after a long break. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the content of the report.
