001G Jump Into January (Pro-Am) INH Flat RaceThe Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the turn into the straight involving Any Road, ridden by L.A. McKenna, Attaboyarchie, ridden by Miss E.J. Sweeney, and Stellar Story, ridden by Mr H.C. Swan where it appeared that Any Road may have got tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In her evidence, Miss E.J. Sweeney stated that her mount had received a bump which did not affect her finishing position. L.A. McKenna stated that his mount was tightened from both sides. Mr H.C. Swan stated that in his opinion he had held a perfect line around the bend into the straight and felt that he did not contribute to any tight riding. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action.
The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference from about the one furlong marker to the finish involving Any Road, ridden by L.A. McKenna, placed second, and Stellar Story, ridden by Mr H.C. Swan, placed first, where it appeared that both horses came together and bumped. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, L.A McKenna stated that his mount received a number of bumps and got continuous pressure from Stellar Story throughout the closing stages of this race. Mr H.C. Swan stated that his big staying mount had bumped Any Road twice but he corrected him with his reins and won going away close to the finish. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Stellar Story had caused interference to Any Road, he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that Mr H.C. Swan was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard, the Raceday Stewards suspended him for three racedays.
The Raceday Stewards interviewed L.A. McKenna, rider of Any Road, trained by E. J. O'Grady, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of Regulation 10. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that L.A McKenna was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency). Having taken his pervious record into account they suspended L.A. McKenna for two racedays.
