126B Tote Jackpot Is Back H'cap H'dle

J.J. Slevin, rider of Kingfisher Lane trained by S.R.B. Crawford, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left for most of the final circuit.

The Stewards interviewed J.J. Slevin, rider of Kingfisher Lane, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, J.J. Slevin stated that his mount was a difficult ride and was not going forward. He added that he had used the whip to steer and encourage his mount and switched his whip hand when drifting to the near rail nearing the finish. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that J.J. Slevin was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive force and R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended J.J. Slevin for one raceday.

The Stewards interviewed Mr O. McGill, rider of Building Bridges (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, the rider stated that he had started to use his whip too far out to encourage his mount to concentrate but accepted that he had exceeded the whip guidelines in doing so. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr O. McGill was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended Mr O. McGill for one raceday.

126C Adare Manor Opportunity H'cap H'dle

The Stewards interviewed N. Terrassin, rider of Lily Light Foot, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, N. Terrassin stated that he was encouraging his mount to give her best and apologised for his actions. Furthermore, on viewing the video in the presence of the Stewards, N. Terrassin accepted that he had used the whip incorrectly for some of the hits. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that N. Terrassin was in breach of R10(3)(e) by hitting his mount other than down the shoulder or on the hind quarters and R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned N. Terrassin on this occasion and referred him to R.A.C.E under Rule 14 (i)(b) for one days tuition on the correct use of the whip.

Ms.M.Flynn, trainer of Toor Hawk, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her charge did not handle the track.

Kieran Callaghan, rider of Corrigaleen trained by E.Sheehy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount found today's ground too heavy to handle.

The Stewards requested a report from C.A.McBratney, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Journey West, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Limerick on the 13th March when pulled up. C.A.McBratney reported that the change in riding tactics today whereby his charge was held up early, the application of blinkers for the first time and the lesser standard of the race were all contributing factors to the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

126E First Past The Post H'cap S'chase

The Stewards interviewed Thomas Reilly, rider of School Lane, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, Thomas Reilly accepted that he had exceeded the whip guidelines on the amount of strikes allowed. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Thomas Reilly was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous clean record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned Thomas Reilly on this occasion.

The Stewards enquired into an incident after the winning post going out on the final circuit involving Manitopark Aa (FR), ridden by Kieran Callaghan, Grangeclare West, ridden by B. Browne, School Lane, ridden by Thomas Reilly and Think Positive, ridden by P.J. O'Hanlon, where it appeared that School Lane moved inwards leaving the other runners short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, Kieran Callaghan stated that he was left with little room when the horses directly in front of him moved inwards. P.J. O'Hanlon stated that he got squeezed for room from his outer. B. Browne stated that he received pressure from his outer. Thomas Reilly stated that a loose horse directly in front of him came across his mount and he had no option but to veer left to remain in line with the course boundary for his run to the next fence. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that any interference was accidental in nature and were unable to apportion blame to any rider. In these circumstances, they took no further action.

126G Irish Stallion Farms EBF (M) Flat Race

The Stewards reviewed the fall at the bottom of the hill before the straight of Talking To Myself, ridden by Miss R. Hogan. Having viewed the recording of the fall, the Stewards were satisfied that it happened independently and no blame was attached to any other rider.
