042B Clonmel H'cap S'chase
The Raceday Stewards interviewed K. Callaghan, rider of Spellacy's Cross, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he had used his whip above the permitted level. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied the rider was in breach of R10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record (second offence), they suspended him for four racedays.
Mr T. O'Connor, rider of Nibbles, trained by Turlough O'Connor, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mounts saddle slipped at the top of the hill.
The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident after the last involving Maciver, ridden by C.M. Quirke, placed first, and Spellacy's Cross, ridden by K. Callaghan, placed second, where it appeared both horses came close together. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
042C Nire Valley Claiming H'dleThe Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident turning into the straight involving Opera Point, ridden by J. Aherne, placed fifth, Ellaat (GB), ridden by P. Byrnes, placed first, Connors Cross, ridden by Kevin A Murphy, placed second, and Jack Du Large (FR), ridden by D.J Gilligan, placed third where it appeared interference occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J. Aherne said he received pressure from both sides. P. Byrnes said he received contact from his inside but felt he kept his line. Kevin A. Murphy said he kept his line and wasn't aware of the interference behind him. D.J. Gilligan said there was a gap for him when he made his maneuvre but he didn't have the horse to go through it. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found P. Byrnes was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his clean record in this regard, the Raceday Stewards suspended him for two racedays.
042D Cloneen (Mares) H'cap H'dleP.K. Donovan, rider of Chautuaqua, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly left throughout.
Miss A. Hourigan, rider of Queen Of Seduction, trained by G.T.Hourigan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that her mount stopped quickly.
The Raceday Stewards requested a report from D.Deacon, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Volez Vous, placed first, as compared with its recent form. D. Deacon said his mount benefitted from a positive ride from an experienced seven pound claimer. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the content of the report.
042E Irish Stallion Farms EBF M'dn H'dleThe Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident turning into the straight involving Kashchei (GB), ridden by K.C. Sexton, placed sixth, and Midnight Eugene, ridden by Mr D. Doyle, unplaced, where it appeared Midnight Eugene got tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. K.C. Sexton said he kept a straight line and felt a little contact from his inside. Mr. D. Doyle said his horse got unbalanced when coming off the bridle and stumbled. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action.
042F Clonmel Novice H'cap H'dleThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Walk Away Harry, trained by Ian O'Connor, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have a wound on its left hind coronary band and to have mild post race heat stress.
Owing to the low lying sun, the Raceday Stewards granted permission for hurdles one and two to be omitted from this race.
042G Rosegreen H'cap H'dleThe Raceday Stewards requested a report from Robert Tyner, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Bridie Whittle, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge ran well on its last run after coming back from a long break after falling on its run prior to that and he improved on that to leave him right for today. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted its contents.
