The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Massini’s Trap was found to be post race normal.

214C Burleigh Accountants Handicap & The Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of the winner Daigreen, trained by Ms. Joanna Morgan, compared with the horse’s previous run at Navan on 29th April, where he finished last of 16.   Evidence was heard from Mr. Mark Bird, Turf Club Handicapper, who stated that this horse had shown a substantial improvement in form today compared with his previous run and this was highlighted by the horse’s reversal of form with Tohugo which finished fourth at Navan.
Evidence was also heard from Ms. Joanna Morgan, who stated that she had run this horse over six furlongs at Navan as he was very keen at home. She said that, having jumped off slowly that day, he was outpaced early on and was never in contention.  She added that this horse has always had some ability but has had various training problems, particularly with his back. She said she had given the horse some time since his last run to iron out these problems.  She felt that today’s trip of nine furlongs was the horse’s ideal trip. She further stated that the horse had worked well in his last piece of work at the Curragh on the previous Friday.  She concluded by stating that she had applied ear plugs for the first time today and this also appeared to suit the horse.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

214D Costello McDermott Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed P.T. Enright, rider of Startle (GB), concerning his conduct after he had used his whip on the way to the start for this race.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that P.T. Enright was in breach of Rule 272 (unacceptable behaviour). The Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (27th and 28th August).

The Stewards received a report from Mr. I. Hamilton, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, which stated that D.N. Russell, rider of Sizing Machine, placed fourth, did not weigh-in after this race.
Dr. John Kennedy, Turf Club Medical Officer, confirmed that D.N. Russell was injured due to a fall after the line and was unable to present himself at scales to weigh-in.
Having considered the reports, the Stewards, using their powers under Rule 230 (i) allowed the result to stand and took no further action.

Mr. Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer of Percys Choice, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge jumped poorly and made mistakes as a consequence.

214E E.P.S. Pumps Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. Niall Madden, trainer of the winner Whatever It Takes, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s previous run at Sligo on 23rd May, where he finished 12th of 16.
The trainer reported that he was disappointed with the horse’s run at Sligo where, despite the ground description of ‘Good’, it was very tacky. He said that the gelding was thoroughly checked after the race and no abnormality was found. He further stated that, in his opinion, the horse did not battle when he got crowded in that race. He said that the horse was eased down in his training since then and was allowed to freshen up. He concluded by saying that different tactics were employed today in that they allowed the horse to be up with the pace and this, combined with a very good round of jumping may have contributed to this success. The trainer also stated that all his runners have run very well in recent weeks.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Casimir Road, trained by Mr. M.J. Grassick, was found to be post race normal.

Mr. A.L.T. Moore, trainer of Authinger, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have a respiratory infection following and endoscopic examination post race.

214G Broderick’s Electrical Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Mrs Pauline Gavin, trainer of the winner Lillymile, regarding the apparent improvement in form of her charge compared with the horse’s previous run over three miles at Kilbeggan on the 20th July where she finished 12th of 16.
Mrs Gavin reported that this filly was making her returning from a long break at Kilbeggan and ran too free that day. She said that the rider on that occasion suggested that, as this filly has plenty of pace, she should revert her back to a lesser trip of about two miles and four furlongs. The trainer said that she took the rider’s advice and that her horse was able to get plenty of cover today which helped her to settle. She added that her charge has shown a liking for this particular track and had been successful here in the past.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

The Stewards received a report from Mr. I. Hamilton, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales,  which stated that A.P. Cawley, rider of Sids Choice (GB), placed second, did not weigh-in after this race.
Dr. John Kennedy, Turf Club Medical Officer, confirmed that A.P. Cawley was injured due to a fall after the line and was unable to present himself at scales to weigh-in.
Having considered the reports, the Stewards, using their powers under Rule 230 (i) allowed the result to stand and took no further action.

Norris, representing trainer Mr. Patrick J Flynn, trainer of the winner Bonnie Acclamation, regarding the apparent improvement in form of this animal compared with the horse’s previous run at Naas on the 6th August, where he finished last of seven finishers.
Mr. Norris reported that this horse was having his first run for ten weeks in that Naas race and ran well for six furlongs before fading. He said that the horse was also returning to a more ideal trip today which probably accounted for some of the improvement in form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that M.P. Butler was in breach of Regulation 10, in that he had failed to give his mount sufficient time to respond.
Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for four race days (1st, 3rd, 6th and 7th September).

The Stewards interviewed E. Mullins, rider of Bundle Of Fun, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that E. Mullins was in breach of Regulation 10, in that he failed to give his mount sufficient time to respond.
Having taken his recent record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore cautioned him as to his future responsibilities in this regard.

220C The Stewards requested a report from Mr. Brendan O’Shea, authorised representative for Mr. Eoin Doyle, trainer of the winner Raggletagglegypsy, regarding the apparent improvement in form of this animal compared with the horse’s previous run at Killarney on the 19th July when he finished 12th of 13 finishers and was beaten by 61 lengths.
Mr. O’Shea reported that the horse ran very poorly at Killarney, and although blood samples were subsequently taken, no apparent reason for the poor run could be found. He pointed out that the yard seemed to be under a cloud at that time. He added that this horse was given a two week break and that the yard seems to have turned the corner now and returned to form. He said that these two things combined have, in his opinion, brought about today’s improved performance.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

220D Waterford & Tramore Racecourse Directors (Q.R) Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. J.P. Kenny, trainer of the winner Miley Shah, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to the horse’s recent form.
Mr. Kenny reported that this is a difficult horse to train as he is temperamental. He felt that the horse did not give his best in his previous race after jumping poorly early in the race. He said that the horse jumped much better today and was prominent from the outset, while the longer distance was a help to him. He concluded by stating that the horse was fitted with cheek pieces for the first time today.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
In his evidence D.P. McDonogh stated that his whip accidentally struck Colour Of Love as she challenged close on his outside.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted the explanation offered. However, the Stewards advised D.P. McDonogh concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.

221C Bar One Racing Mourne Handicap & The Stewards received a report from Mr. D. Cullen, Turf Club Starter, which stated that a stall had been damaged in the previous race.
Evidence was heard from Mr. Cullen, who stated that a stall was damaged at the start of the second race and that it took approximately twenty minutes to repair. He also added that both spare stalls were unusable as they had been damaged at previous meetings, which was not subsequently reported.
Evidence was also heard from Mr. Andy Coyle, Stalls Maintenance Attendant, who confirmed that an injured horse damaged stall seven in the previous race and that the spare stalls were out of action. He added that on arrival two hours before racing he noticed that the stalls had two flat tyres which also required attending to. He concluded that he no longer does non raceday maintenance inspections and was therefore unaware of any problems with the stalls or the spare stalls until today.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards referred the matter to the Chief Executive of the Turf Club for immediate attention in order to help prevent any re-occurrence of this nature.
Mr. Anthony Byrne, Acting Steward, did not act at this enquiry.

Roche, Misty Lane, ridden by N.G. McCullagh, placed second, Truly Genius, ridden by M.C. Hussey, placed fourth, and Wild China, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed fifth.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while interference had occurred they were not satisfied that the winner had improved his finishing position as a result of that interference and they therefore made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. The Stewards were, however, of the opinion that L.F. Roche had ridden carelessly (Rule 214) and having taking his record in this regard into account, they therefore suspended him for two race days.

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight  involving Wild China, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed fifth, and Jouster, ridden by F.M. Berry, unplaced,  after it appeared the latter had to check.
