J.P. Murtagh Appeal - Curragh 25th May 2008
The Appeals Body, Division Two, Mr J.R. Craigie (in the Chair), Mrs. T.K. Cooper and Mr. Peter N. Reynolds met in the Stewards Room, Leopardstown Racecourse on Wednesday 4th June 2008 to consider an appeal from J.P. Murtagh, Rider, against the severity of the ban imposed by the Acting Stewards at the Curragh on 25th May 2008 when following the running of the Boylecasino.com European Breeders Fund 2-y-o Maiden he was suspended for three racedays for careless riding.
Evidence was heard from Lorcan Wyer - Stewards Secretary, P.J. Smullen, Rider - Daggers Bond, W.M. Lordan, Rider - Sugar Free, J.P. Murtagh and Eddie Byrne, Authorised Riders Agent – J.P. Murtagh.
Having considered the evidence the Appeals Body reduced the suspension to two racedays but also imposed a fine of €1,000.
