Adrian Sexton / Random Stable Inspection - 8th September, 2007

The Referrals Committee Dr. Gordon A. Holmes (in the Chair), Mr. P.J.A. O’Connor and Mrs. J.O. Onions met in the Stewards Room, The Curragh Racecourse, Co. Kildare on 23rd October to consider a report from M.F. O’Donoghue and Andrew Tyrrell, Turf Club Officials, following a visit to the yard of trainer Adrian Sexton on 8th September which revealed that eleven of the twenty-two horses returned in training were not at Adrian Sexton’s premises on the day of the inspection.  The matter had been referred to the Referrals Committee for further investigation by Denis Egan, Keeper of the Matchbook.

Evidence was heard from M.F. O’Donoghue, Mrs. Vicky McWey, Supervisor Registrations Department, Horse Racing Ireland, Andrew Tyrrell, Adrian Sexton and Edward Sexton.

Having considered the evidence, the Committee found Adrian Sexton guilty of a breach of Rule 148(vi) in respect of 9 horses and imposed a fine of €1,830 (€130 in respect of 6 horses and €350 in respect of 3 horses). They further ordered that he pay costs of €500 and that the Licensing Committee be informed of the outcome of today’s hearing.  They directed the Licensing Committee to also take into account the result of this case when deciding whether or not to renew Mr. Sexton’s licence in the event of there being further breaches of rules.

The case was presented by Mr. Brian Price, Wilkinson & Price Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.
