The Appeals Body, Division Two, Mr. G.B. Scanlan (in the Chair), Mrs. T.K. Cooper and Mr. Roderick Ryan met at the Stewards Room, Leopardstown Racecourse on Saturday 3rd November 2007 to consider an appeal from J.P. Murtagh, Rider, against the decision of the Acting Stewards at Dundalk on 12th October 2007 when following the running of the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Star Appeal Stakes he was suspended for one raceday for careless riding.
Evidence was heard from D.M. Grant, Rider of Contingency Plan, C.D. Hayes, Rider of Brazilian Star, J.P. Murtagh and Eddie Byrne, Authorised Riders Agent for J.P. Murtagh. Videos of the race were also viewed.
Having considered the evidence the Appeals Body found that J.P. Murtagh was guilty of careless riding and cautioned him to be more careful in the future.
