David J. Moran Appeal
Curragh, 8th October, 2006
The Appeals Body, Division One, Mr. Justice Ronan Keane (in the Chair), Mrs. T.K. Cooper and Mr. Peter N. Reynolds, met at the Stand House Hotel, The Curragh, Co. Kildare, on Friday, 20th October, 2006, to consider an appeal lodged by Apprentice Jockey, David J. Moran, against the decision of the Acting Stewards at the Curragh on 8th October, 2006, when following the running of the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap Final he was suspended for twenty one racedays for improper riding.
Having considered submissions from legal representatives, evidence from D.J. Moran and having viewed films of the race, the Appeals Body found that the rider had ridden improperly but they reduced the penalty to six racedays, commencing on Monday, 23rd October, 2006, and ordered the return of his deposit.
Mr. Andrew Coonan, Coonan Cawley Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare, represented David J. Moran and the case was presented to the Committee by Mr. Brian Price, Wilkinson and Price Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.
