The Appeals Body, Division Two, Mr. J.R. Craigie (in the Chair), Mrs. T.K. Cooper and Mr. P.N. Reynolds, met at the Stand House Hotel, The Curragh, Co. Kildare, on Tuesday, 12th December, 2006, to consider an appeal lodged by Mr. C. Roche, Trainer, against the decision of the Acting Stewards at Thurles on 30th November, 2006, when following the running of the Cahir Maiden Hurdle, Mr. Roche was fined €2,000, the horse “Good Company” was suspended for sixty days and the rider, M.P. Walsh, suspended for twenty one days because the Stewards believed that the animal was not allowed run on its merits. Evidence was heard from Mr. C. Roche, M.P. Walsh, P. Lafarge, Stewards Secretary, Mr. E. Doyle, Employee of Mr. Roche, and a film of the race was also shown.
Having considered the evidence, the Appeals Body decided to allow the appeal lodged by Mr. Roche but to dismiss appeal lodged by M.P. Walsh.
The case was presented to the Committee by Mr. Brian Price, Wilkinson and Price Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare, and Mr. Liam Guidera of Frank Ward and Company Solicitors represented Mr. Roche.
