Mr. George Chapman - “Itsakeeper” Prohibited Substance

Ormond Point to Point, 1st June, 2008.

The Referrals Committee, Mr. Edward Flannery (in the Chair), Mr. J.R. Craigie and Mrs. T.K. Cooper, met in the Turf Club Offices, The Curragh, Co. Kildare, at 11.45 a.m. on Tuesday 22nd July, 2008, to consider a report from BHP Laboratories in Limerick that the biological fluid sample taken from “Itsakeeper” following its win in the Winner of One race at the Ormond Foxhounds Point to Point meeting on Sunday 1st June, 2008, tested positive for Phenylbutazone and Oxyphenbutazone which are both included in the schedule of Prohibited Substances pursuant to Rule 20 (v) of the Rules of Racing and the Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Rules and the Regulations for Point to Point Steeplechases.  Evidence was heard from Mr. Colin Bowe, representing the Owner, Mr. George Chapman, and Mr. S.W.D. McIlveen, Turf Club Veterinary Officer.

Having considered the evidence the Committee fined Mr. Bowe, who accepted responsibility for the matter, €300, imposed costs of €200, and disqualified “Itsakeeper” from first place and ordered the record be amended to read as follows:-

First:  Flame Six (FR)
Second: Little Inch
Third:  Carrigmacogue

The case was presented to the Committee by Mr. Sean Barry, Registrar, I.N.H.S. Committee.
