D. M. Grant Appeal – Naas 9th July 2008

The Appeals Body, Division Two, Mr J.R. Craigie (in the Chair), Mrs. T.K. Cooper and Mrs. J. O. Onions met in the Turf Club Offices, Curragh, Co Kildare on Friday 18th July 2008 to consider an appeal from D. M. Grant, Rider (Mon Champion), against the decision of the Acting Stewards at Naas on 9th July 2008 when following the running of the Brophy Farrell Real Estate Alliance Handicap he was suspended for four racedays for careless riding.

Evidence was heard from Philippe Lafarge, Stewards Secretary, P. J. Smullen, Rider - Provincial (GB), D. J. Moran, Rider- Kaprun, D. M. Grant and F. M. Berry who rode Mon Champion at Leopardstown on 28th May 2008. The Appeals Body also considered a written submission from P. J. Flynn- Trainer, Mon Champion.

Having considered the evidence the Appeals Body allowed the Appeal.

The case was presented to the Committee by Mr. Brian Price, Wilkinson & Price Solicitors, Naas, Co Kildare, D. M. Grant was represented by Mr. Andrew Coonan, Coonan Cawley Solicitors, Naas, Co Kildare
