Following an appeal heard by the Appeals Body of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) on 28 March 2024, A J Martin (Trainer) had his licence to train withdrawn for a period of six months with three months suspended.
The Appeals Body instructed that Mr Martin’s licence should be withdrawn from 15 May 2024. The full decision of the Appeals Body can be found here.
On 13 May 2024, Mr Martin commenced proceedings by way of application for a Judicial Review in the High Court in which he sought to quash the decision of the Appeals Body. As part of these proceedings Mr Martin sought a stay on the withdrawal of his licence.
The application for a Judicial Review and for a stay on the withdrawal of Mr Martin’s licence was heard by Mr Justice Rory Mulcahy in the High Court on 14 May 2024. Justice Mulcahy delivered his judgement on 16 May 2024 which can be read here.
Arising from these proceedings, the withdrawal of Mr Martin’s licence for a period of three months commenced on 16 May 2024.
