Wexford Racecourse / Michael Murphy Referral
The Referrals Committee, Neville O’Byrne (in the Chair), Sean Barry and Liam Ward met at the Turf Club, The Curragh, Co. Kildare on 10th March 2011 to consider the referral of Michael Murphy, Racecourse Manager Wexford Racecourse, in respect of a possible breach of Regulation R9 dealing with the “Watering of Racecourses” as a result of the abandonment of the race meeting at Wexford on 24th October 2010.
Evidence was heard from T.V. O’Connell, Inspector of Courses, P.F. Graffin, Clerk of the Course, Jim Ryan, Watering Contractor who carried out the watering at Wexford Racecourse in advance of the meeting and Michael Murphy.
Having considered the evidence and taken all the circumstances into account the Committee found that the track was not overwatered and that Michael Murphy was not in breach of Regulation R9.
The case was presented by Conal Boyce, Wilkinson & Price Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.
