The Referrals Committee, Con O’Mahony (in the Chair), Paddy Barry and Michael Doyle met at the Stewards room, Killarney Racecourse, Co. Kerry on Wednesday, 15th July 2015 to consider whether or not Peter Fahey, trainer, was in breach of any Rules as a result of failing to notify the Registry Office that Bootsandbars which won the Naasracecourse.com Apprentice Handicap at Naas on 13th May 2015 had been gelded. The matter had been referred to the Referrals Committee by Denis Egan, chief executive of the Turf Club.
Evidence was heard from Peter Fahey.
In his evidence Peter Fahey said that the horse went home to the owner for the winter and was gelded. However the passport was not updated and it was only when the horse was examined by the Turf Club veterinary officer following its win at Naas that he became aware that the passport had not been updated. He apologised for the omission.
Having considered the evidence, the Referrals Committee found that Peter Fahey was in breach of Rule 148(vi) and imposed a fine of €130.
The case was presented by Denis Egan, Chief Executive of the Turf Club.
