The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Leitzel (GB), ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe, placed third, and Struck By Churchil (GB), ridden by P. Byrnes, placed second, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D.J. O'Keeffe stated that Struck By Churchill rolled in on top of him and he gave Mr. Byrnes a shout. He further added that he felt his mount wasn't good enough and the interference didn't cost him a place. P. Byrnes stated that his mount rolled around and he heard a shout from Mr. O'Keeffe but he felt he corrected his mount immediately. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Struck By Churchill had caused interference to Leitzel he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that P. Byrnes was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard, the Raceday Stewards suspended him for eight racedays.

M.P. O'Connor, rider of Katakana (FR), trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was hampered at the second last.

G.B. Noonan, rider of Celtic Crossing, trained by Darren Collins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung and jumped left.

P. Hanlon, rider of Mother Ship, trained by John Joseph Hanlon, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount clipped a heel turning in.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Relevant Range, ridden by P.T. Enright, and trained by Gillian Scott. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. P.T. Enright, stated that his instructions were to drop him out, get him settled and try get him to come home nicely. He further added that his mount found nothing after the last. Gillian Scott, confirmed the instuctions given and expressed her satisfaction with the ride adding that her charge hasn't been finishing his races out and is very hard on himself. The Raceday Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Relevant Range coughed a few times while being examined but was otherwise post race normal. Samples were taken for further analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanations offered.

137D Monroes John Monroe Memorial (M) Hcp Hdl

S. Fitzgerald, rider of Je T'ai Porte, trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung violently throughout.

137E Portwest H'cap H'dle

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident involving For Everyone, ridden by P.T. Enright, unplaced, where it appeared to take a false step shortly after jumping the second last. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

137F1 FBD H'cap H'dle

The Raceday Stewards interviewed L.A. McKenna, rider of Granco Rof, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, L.A. McKenna accepted he was in breach of the Whip Regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that L.A. McKenna was in breach of R.10.3(b) by using his whip unnecessarily when his chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone. Having considered his record in this regard (second offence under Regulation 10), they suspended him for four racedays.
