S. Foley, rider of Timeless Piece, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount reared when the starting stalls opened.

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Not Even Maybe, trained by Michael Mulvany, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was hampered early on and got tight for room.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident soon after the start involving Thats Jet, ridden by M.A. Gallagher, unplaced, Apprentice, ridden by A.C. Persse, placed first, Slaney Tide, ridden by L.T. McAteer, placed second, Monnow Valley (GB), ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed third, and Not Even Maybe, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed fourth, where it appeared that Not Even Maybe ran short of room and checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence D.P. McDonogh stated that he received pressure from his outside and had to check. M.A. Gallagher stated that his mount jumped well and he saw Not Even Maybe receiving pressure. R.P. Cleary stated that his mount started to run free but the interference happened before he arrived alongside the horses involved. L.T. McAteer stated that his mount jumped out of stalls well and came across a little before being straightened when hearing a shout from his inner and in his opinion this avoided him causing any interference. A.C. Persse stated that his mount jumped smart and sat behind the leaders but received a small bit of interference from his outside. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found that L.T. McAteer was in breach of Rule 214 in that they had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard, the Raceday Stewards cautioned L.T. McAteer on this occasion. Mr Steve McDonogh, Acting Raceday Steward, recused himself from this enquiry.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed K.S. McHugh, rider of Show No Fear, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, concerning the fact that he stopped riding about one hundred yards from the finish when racing in fifth place and finished unplaced. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that it was his first time to ride here at Tipperary and that he had walked the track before racing but in riding he mistook the one hundred yard marker for the winning post and stopped riding. His evidence was given in the presence of Philip Heelan, Authorised representative for Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer of Show No Fear. Having viewed the recording and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that K.S. McHugh was in breach of Rule 212A(iv) by failing to obtain his best possible placing by misjudgement. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended K.S. McHugh for two racedays and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee.
