Horse Racing Ireland today announced an additional Flat meeting for Thurles on Thursday, October 25.

Following a routine course inspection by Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board officials on Wednesday, the ground at Thurles was found to be good to firm, firm in places and therefore unsuitable for National Hunt racing. However, following consultation with the IHRB, the Irish Jockeys Association, the Irish Racehorse Trainers Association, the Racecourse Management and Clerk of the Course, the course is deemed fit for Flat racing and consequently Horse Racing Ireland has announced that an additional Flat meeting will replace the National Hunt meeting originally planned for Thursday October 25.

Entries for this meeting (Meeting No 390) will close by 12 noon on Monday October 22 with declarations to run to be made by 10am on Wednesday October 24.

The current going is good to firm and as there are no watering facilities, watering of the course will not take place prior to this fixture.

The full details of the programme of races will be published on the HRI RAS website later today.
