Turf Club Calendar Notices - Week 47

Irish Racing Calendar, 22nd November 2012

The following trainers were fined €200 in each case for the non-notification of a Veterinary Certificate in accordance with the provision of Rule 194 (v) (vi):- Gordon Elliott for Rocky Wednesday (lame) at Punchestown on 6th November and Totally Couture (lame) at Fairyhouse on 7th November; Mrs John Harrington for Maller Tree (GB) (lame) at Navan on 11th November and A.L.T. Moore for Positive Vibes (GB) (injured in transit) at Navan on 11th November.

Wolverhampton Meeting, 5th November 2012

Wolverhampton-Racecourse.co.uk Handicap & Michael J. Browne, trainer of Queen Grace, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Thursday 15th November that his charge was found to be coughing and had a very high temperature post race.

Clonmel Meeting, 1st November 2012

296F www.grahamnorris.com Memorial Handicap Hurdle & D.T. Hughes, trainer of Caheronaun, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Thursday 15th November that his charge was found to be in season post race.

Downpatrick Meeting, 14th November 2012

The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of rider at this meeting:
 D.J. Condon replaced P. Carberry on North Star Lad, trained by Noel Meade (Race 6) Injured.

309C Mobile Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed B. Hayes, rider of Rudigreen, concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race. 
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. 
 Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that B. Hayes was in breach of R10 (3)(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive force and frequency.
 Having taken his previous recent record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for five race days (29th November, 1st, 2nd, 6th and 8th December) and ordered him to attend R.A.C.E for a one day tuition on the correct use of the whip.   

 D.R. Fox, rider of High Talk, trained by Mark Michael McNiff, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not travel from a long way out in this race.

309G November I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards interviewed Mr D. O’Connor, rider of Balboni, concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race. 
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. 
 Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr O’Connor was in breach of R10 (3)(g) in that he used his whip with his arm above shoulder height.
 Having taken his recent record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (29the November).

Clonmel Meeting, 15th November 2012

310A I.N.H. Stallion Owners European Breeders Fund Maiden Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that The Paparrazi Kid, trained by W.P. Mullins, was found to be post race normal.

310B Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards received a report from P.L. Malone, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that D.R. Fox, rider of Letterofapproval, had failed to present himself to weigh out in accordance with Rule 196. 
Evidence was heard from Desmond Kenneally, trainer of Letterofapproval, who stated that he booked D.R. Fox, through his agent, Ruaidhri Tierney. He said that he only realised that the rider had not shown up when he arrived at Scales to weigh him out. He then phoned Ruaidhri Tierney, who in turn was unable to make contact with the rider.
The Stewards subsequently ordered the withdrawal of Letterofapproval as the trainer was unable to find a rider qualified to ride in the race.
 Having considered the evidence, the Stewards referred the matter to the Chief Executive of the Turf Club for further investigation.

310F Prior Park Service Station Clonmel Handicap Steeplechase & J.R Barry, rider of Days Ahead, trained by Eoin Doyle, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a bad mistake in the back straight, began to hang shortly afterwards and was therefore pulled up before the second last fence.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Days Ahead was found to be blowing hard post race.

Dundalk Meeting, 16th November 2012

The Stewards authorised the following nominations and substitutions of riders at this meeting:
 W.M. Lordan rode Lily’s Star (reserve), trained by H. Rogers (Race 2)
 P.J. Smullen rode Brannigan’s Law (reserve), trained by David Wachman (Race 4)

311A Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Package Nursery Handicap & The Stewards enquired into an incident approximately five furlongs from the finish involving Queen Of The Sand, ridden by G.J. Phillips, placed fourth, and Spirit Of The Air, ridden by D.A. McCormack, placed fifth, after it appeared that Queen Of The Sand had to check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. 
 Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and therefore took no further action. The Stewards did, however, caution G.J. Phillips regarding the accuracy of his evidence.

The Stewards informed A.L.T. Moore, trainer of Quinine (GB), that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.    

 C.D. Hayes, rider of Brady’s Hill, trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran out of racing room in the straight.

311B Dundalk Stadium – Light Up Your Night Handicap & C.D. Hayes, rider of Crystal Harmony, trained by P.J. Prendergast, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was accidentally struck over the head with a whip in the closing stages of this race.

 W311C (i) Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden (Division One) &
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight involving Opera Gloves, ridden by N.G. McCullagh, placed third, and Conversational, ridden by C. D. Hayes, unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. 
 Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and therefore took no further action.

 D.P. McDonogh, rider of St Jean, trained by Kevin Prendergast, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount missed the break but did not pick up in the straight.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that St Jean was found to be post race normal.

311C(ii) Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden (Division Two) & D.P. McDonogh, rider of Ebadani, trained by M. Halford, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount suffered interference shortly after leaving the stalls.

311D Floodlit Friday Nights At Dundalk Apprentice Handicap & The Stewards interviewed Samantha Bell, rider of the winner Maude Adams, concerning her use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. 
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
 Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Samantha Bell was in breach of Regulation 10(4), in that she had failed to give her mount sufficient time to respond.
 Having taken her record into account, the Stewards therefore cautioned her concerning her future responsibilities in this regard.

311F Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Handicap & The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the straight involving the winner, First Friday, ridden by D.E. Mullins, and Balmont Flyer, ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. 
 Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that interference had occurred, while they were also satisfied that the winner had improved his finishing position as a result of this interference. The Stewards therefore reversed the Judge’s placings to read as follows: First Balmont Flyer and Second First Friday. 

311G www.dundalkstadium.com Maiden & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Edge Of Sanity, trained by J.S. Bolger, was found to be post race normal.

The Stewards informed John M. Oxx, trainer of If Or When, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.    

Punchestown Meeting, 17th November 2012

312A Ballymore GAA Christmas Fair & Family Fun Day 3-y-o Hurdle & D.J. Casey, rider of Positive Vibes (GB), trained by A.L.T. Moore, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount met with interference at a flight of hurdles in the back straight, but that in general the horse did not jump fluently throughout the race.

312B Punchestown Annual Membership From 95 Euro Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Simenon (IRE), trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

312C Crystal Cup Trial Risk Of Thunder Steeplechase & The Stewards enquired into the course taken after jumping fence five (Aintree fence) under the provisions of Rules 212 and 215 involving Its Only A Mist, ridden by P.T. Enright, Lydon House (GB), ridden by Mr J.J. Slevin, both pulled up, Lord Nellerie (FR), ridden by Miss E. McCutcheon, Long Strand, ridden by J.L. Cullen, and Im Cool Too, ridden by Mr C.M. Murphy, all unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned and from Brendan Sheridan, Turf Club Clerk of the Course. 
 Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the above named riders had taken the wrong course after jumping fence five. The Stewards found that Miss McCutcheon was in breach of Rule 215(i) in that she had failed to pull up and therefore suspended her for seven race days (1st, 2nd, 6th, 8th, 9th, 13th and 15th December), while they also disqualified Lord Nellerie (FR) under Rule 215(ii).
The Stewards found that both P.T. Enright and Mr J.J. Slevin had complied with Rule 215(i) having gone the wrong course, but found them to be in breach of Rule 212(a)(i) and therefore suspended both riders for four  race days (1st, 2nd, 6th, and 8th December).
The Stewards found that both J.L. Cullen and Mr C.M. Murphy had complied with Rule 215(i). The Stewards were of the opinion that both riders had tried corrective action, but were unable to avoid the situation happening. The Stewards therefore gave both riders the benefit of the doubt and took no further action.   

 Peter Maher, trainer of Exit Legs It, reported to the Clerk of Scales, that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.

312H Racing At Punchestown Tomorrow (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards fined Ray Hackett, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Benefit Biddy in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

Punchestown Meeting, 18th November 2012

The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of rider at this meeting:
 D.N. Russell replaced R.M. Power on Sweeney Tunes (GB), trained by Paul Nolan (Race 3) Injured.

Cork Meeting, 18th November 2012

The Stewards authorised the following nominations and substitutions of rider at this meeting:
 D.A. McCormack replaced H.G. Murphy on Agamemnon, trained by John Joseph Murphy (Race 1) Injured.
 Mr M.D. Hickey replaced H.G. Murphy on Sheer Genius, trained by John Joseph Murphy (Race 4) Injured.

314A I.N.H. Stallion Owners European Breeders Fund Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards received a report from D. Cullen, Turf Club Starter, concerning the false starts for this race.
 Mr. Cullen reported that the first false start occurred when one horse became fractious at the back of the group and would not line up when the field came forward contributing to the false start. The second false start occurred when another horse bolted and rushed through the tape. In neither case did he apportion blame to any rider.
 Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanations offered and took no further action.

 Sabrina J. Harty, trainer of Coilogshakeysirgin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her charge burst a blood vessel and was therefore pulled up.

314D I.N.H. Stallion Owners European Breeders Fund Beginners Steeplechase & The Stewards requested a report from a representative of Mrs S.A. Bramall, trainer of the winner Snooze (FR), regarding the apparent improvement in form of the animal compared with the horse’s recent performance at Wexford where he finished sixth of nine finishers.
 Mrs Bramall’s representative reported that this horse disappointed at Wexford when he was having his first run since arriving from France where he had won on testing going. However, the trainer’s representative attributed today’s return to form to the step up in trip combined with the more testing ground compared to Wexford where it was described as good.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
