336B(ii) Happy Christmas To All Our Patrons Maiden (Division Two) & The Stewards informed a representative of John Joseph Murphy, trainer of Shouts Of Acclaim, that the horse would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.
336C www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap & M.A. Enright, rider of Reposer, trained by Muredach Kelly, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a respiratory noise in running.
The Stewards informed C. Moore, trainer of Echo Knight, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.
336D Dundalk Stadium – Light Up Your Night Maiden & The Stewards informed
W. McCreery, trainer of Connacht Council, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.
336F Crowne Plaza Dundalk Champions Handicap & The Stewards enquired into an incident inside the final furlong involving If Per Chance, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed second, Castle Guest, ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed third, and Greezky (GB), ridden by A.P. Thornton, placed fifth, after it appeared that Greezky (GB) received a check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and therefore took no further action.
336G Crowne Plaza Jockey & Trainer Awards Handicap & The Stewards enquired from L.P. Dempsey, rider of Formal Bid, as to the reason he was unseated from his mount soon after the start of this race.
L.P. Dempsey stated that his mount accidentally clipped the heels of another horse.
Having viewed a recording of the incident, the Stewards were satisfied that the occurance was accidental in nature and that no other horse or rider was at fault. The Stewards therefore took no further action.
Thurles Meeting, 23rd December 2012
The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of his non-runner:- A.J. Martin, trainer of Edeymi (Declared in error) - €200.
338A Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards granted permission for the fourth and fifth last fences to be omitted in this race and in the Molony Cup Handicap Steeplechase in the interest of safety due to ground conditions.
338C Horse & Jockey Hotel Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from C. Byrnes, trainer of Arnaud, placed third, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horses previous run at Naas on 10th November where he finished last of eight finishers in the race won by Jezki, and was beaten by 125 lengths.
Mr. Byrnes reported that his charge was having his first run back at Naas after a long break in very testing ground conditions and ran very disappointingly. He added that his horses had been running very poorly at the time but they seem to have turned the corner now and that this, in his opinion, brought about today’s improved performance.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted its content.
338D Gift Horse Gallery Horse & Jockey Hotel Mares Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Royal Flight, ridden by J.S McGarvey, and trained by C. Roche.
Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned.
In his evidence J.S. McGarvey stated that his instructions were to settle his mount into a steady rhythm of jumping and conserve as much energy as possible in order to get the horse home in today’s very testing ground conditions. He added that the race was run at a very strong pace, but despite the fact that she missed the third last hurdle and blew up turning for home, she still ran on past tired horses to finish fourth.
In his evidence C. Roche confirmed the instructions and expressed his satisfaction with the ride. He added that his charge was as fit as he could get her at home and expressed his delight at how well the race had gone for her on today’s very testing ground.
The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer which stated that Royal Flight had a slight graze on her left hind cannon but was otherwise found to be post race normal.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered and advised J.S. McGarvey to be seen to make more of an effort in the future.
338E I.N.H. Stallion Owners European Breeders Fund Maiden Hurdle & R.J. Jones, rider of Gortroe, trained by C. Byrnes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled and made a noise in running.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Gortroe at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race.
M.A. Cahill, trainer of Ilongtosee, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge scoped badly post race.
R.T.J. Wilson, trainer of Takemeandbreakme, reported to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.
338F Exit 6 To The Horse & Jockey Novice Handicap Hurdle & D.N. Russell, rider of Courtncatcher, trained by Patrick. J. Duffy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled in this race.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Courtncatcher was found to be post race normal.

339C Adam & Ann Armstrong Memorial Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards fined Colin Bowe, trainer, €130 for failing to declare a penalty for Whiskey And Red, in accordance with Rule 194.
Mr. B. O’Neill, rider of Whiskey And Red, trained by Colin Bowe, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran flat and this race may have come too soon after his recent run.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Whiskey And Red was found to be post race normal.
339E Sean Graham Bookmakers Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into possible interference from the approach to the final hurdle to the finishing line involving the winner Third Opinion, ridden by M.A. Enright, and Curley Bill, ridden by D.J. Condon, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that interference had occurred, but they were not satisfied that the winner had improved his finishing position as a result of that interference and they therefore made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.
F. Cahill, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.
The Stewards interviewed Ben Meade, representing Noel Meade, trainer of Curley Bill, regarding his failure to nominate a rider before the designated time for his charge in this race.
In his evidence Ben Meade stated that he was unaware of the reason for the failure to declare a rider on time.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards referred the matter to the Chief Executive of The Turf Club for further investigation.

340B Download The Free Racing Post Mobile App. Handicap Hurdle & A.E. Lynch, rider of Mobile Sizer (GB), trained by J.T.R. Dreaper, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount weakened very quickly in the closing stages of this race.
340D Q8 Oils Maiden Hurdle & Mr. R.P. McNamara, rider of Expanding Universe, trained by D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount weakened quickly in the straight.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Expanding Universe at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
340F Racing Post All You Need For Irish Racing Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the final bend involving Glibin, ridden by H.D. Dunne, placed fourth, Tadhg, ridden by R.M. Power, unplaced, and Senior Again ridden by D.J. Casey, who clipped heels, stumbled and unseated the rider.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that H.D. Dunne was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly.
Having taken his previous good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for six race days (9th, 12th, 13th, 17th, 19th and 20th January 2013).

342B Paddy Power Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed M.F. Mooney, rider of Dutsdale Dawn, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that M.F. Mooney was in breach of Regulation 10 3(b) in that he had used his whip when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone.
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (12th and 13th January). The Stewards furthermore advised M.F. Mooney to familiarise himself with the Rules pertaining to the whip.
342E Paddy Power Handicap Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Carrigmartin, trained by Edward P. Harty, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
342G Paddy Power On Your Mobile I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards interviewed Mr E.P. O’Brien, rider of Wedding Present, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr O’Brien was in breach of Regulation 10 3.(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive force and frequency, Regulation 10 3. (g) in that he had used his whip with his arm above shoulder height and Regulation 10 4. in that he had failed to give his mount time to respond.
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for ten race days (12th, 13th, 17th, 19th, 20th, 23rd, 24th, 26th, 27th and 31st January) and ordered that he attend R.A.C.E. for a one day tuition on the correct use of the whip.

343A Roches Feeds Maiden Hurdle & Michael Fitzsimons, trainer of Maya Quest, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge scoped badly post race.
343B Woodlands House Hotel Hurdle & The Stewards granted permission for hurdle three to be omitted from this race and from the Goggin Buckley Engineering Handicap Hurdle and the Limerick Racecourse Vets Handicap Hurdle in the interest of safety due to the low elevation of the sun.
The Stewards received a written request from W.P. Mullins, trainer of Prince De Beauchene (FR), to substitute the nominated rider E. Mullins with Mr P.W. Mullins. As the written request failed to state the reason for the substitution and also did not clarify the name of the horse in question, the Stewards consequently called for a representative of W.P. Mullins to present themselves in the Stewards room to clarify the full extent of the request.
Ms Gail Carlisle, Authorised Representative for W.P. Mullins, presented herself in the Stewards room and gave a detailed reason for the request.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were not satisfied that there was a valid reason offered in accordance with R3 to allow the substitution and they therefore refused the request.
M.J. Ferris, rider of Clonbanan Lad, trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well early on, but weakened quickly when pressure was applied.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Clonbanan Lad at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
343C Goggin Buckley Engineering Handicap Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Sherika, trained by Mrs Grainne M. O’Connor, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have lost her left fore shoe in running, but was otherwise found to be clinically normal post race.
343E Tim Duggan Memorial Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards requested a report from John J. Walsh, trainer of the winner Jack Absolute, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to the horse’s recent run at Fairyhouse on the 1st December where he was pulled up when tailed off in the race won by Lead Kindly Light.
Mr Walsh reported that his charge made a very bad mistake at Fairyhouse when blinded by sunlight and landed in the middle of a fence which affected his confidence. He added that the fence in question was omitted in the following race as a result of the low elevation of the sun. He contributed today’s victory to a number of circumstances, including the horse’s liking for this track, as this was his sixth success here and also the fact that he was presented with the race when the leader Harpsy Cord fell at the last with victory in sight. He also claimed that, while his charge can run in snatches, the fitting of blinkers helped him to concentrate and his general fluent jumping gave him the chance to remain with the pace and stay interested.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted the explanations offered.
Mr J.J. Codd, rider of Quarryvale, trained by James Joseph Mangan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a bad mistake on the first circuit and never travelled thereafter.
J.L. Cullen, rider of Thouva (FR), trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled very well until weakening quickly in the straight in the very testing conditions.
343G Greenmount Events & Conferencing Mares I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards enquired into the fall of Unbreakablespirit, ridden by Mr N.M. Kelly, in the closing stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that his mount was very tired when stumbling and falling on the testing ground.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards considered any interference to be accidental in nature and they therefore took no further action.

344B Mongey Communications Novice Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed B.J. Cooper, rider of Julie Prince, placed fifth, concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that B.J. Cooper was in breach of Regulation 10 3. (e) in that he had hit the horse other than down the shoulder or on the hind quarters.
Having taken his good record into account, the Stewards cautioned his as to his future responsibilities in this regard.
The Stewards requested a report from D.E. Mullins, rider If Per Chance, after his horse fell on the turn for home in this race.
D.E. Mullins reported that his horse clipped a heel and fell independently.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanation offered and took no further action.
344C Topaz Novice Steeplechase & The Stewards interviewed R. Walsh, rider of the winner Back In Focus, concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that R. Walsh was in breach of Regulation 10 3. (e) in that he had hit the horse other than down the shoulder or on the hind quarters.
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (12th January).

345D Ryans Cleaning Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from a representative of C. Byrnes, trainer of the winner Dazzlers Day (FR), regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s recent form.
The authorised representative reported that today the horse benefited from the first time application of blinkers and from a change in tactics where he was ridden from the front. He said that the horse also seemed to appreciate the extreme conditions, handling them better than some of his rivals today. He said that any apparent improvement in form could be attributed to a combination of these factors.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
345E Emmett Leahy Millstream Memorial Veterans Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards requested a report from V.T. O’Brien, trainer of the winner Valley Of Thrushes, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s recent form.
Mr O’Brien reported that his charge had been running well until his last run at Thurles on 29th November, where he was pulled up. On that occasion he said the horse was slowly away and got behind early in the race and could not get into a rhythm. Today, however, he instructed his rider to ensure the horse jumped off handily. He said the horse then got an easy lead which allowed him get into a nice rhythm. He concluded by saying that any apparent improvement in form could be attributed to this.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
345F Irish Independent Beginners Steeplechase & The Stewards granted permission for fences number two and three to be omitted from this race and from the Emmett Leahy Millstream Memorial Veterans Handicap Steeplechase in the interest of safety due to ground conditions.
Leopardstown Meeting, 29th December 2012
The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of his non-runner:
P.J. Rothwell, trainer of Ard Agus Fada (late withdrawal-injured in transit) - €200.
346A Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards requested a report from Gordon Elliot, trainer of the winner Tarquinius (FR), regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s recent run at Fairyhouse on the 2nd December where he was pulled up in a three mile five furlong Handicap Steeplechase won by Murchu.
Mr Elliot reported that his charge was having his fourth race in a month when competing at Fairyhouse which in hindsight may have been a race too many in that space of time. He added that he pulled up nearing the final bend on that occasion. Consequently the animal was given a short break in anticipation that he may freshen up. He said that this was the only reason he could offer for the improvement in form today.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted its content.
The Stewards interviewed B.F. Cawley, rider of Bangonform, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip between the last fence and the winning post.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that B.F. Cawley was in breach of R10(3) (b) in that he continued to use his whip after his chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone.
Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (12th and 13th Junuary).
Martin Brassil, trainer of Mister Farmer (FR), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to be clinically abnormal post race.
346F Pertemps Handicap Hurdle & Mr. P.W. Mullins, rider of Apt Approach, trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped poorly throughout this race.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Apt Approach was found to be post race normal.
R.Walsh, rider of Darroun, trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped poorly throughout this race.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that K.C. Sexton was in breach of Regulation 10 3 (f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency.
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (12th and 13th January).
The Stewards requested a report from B.T. O’Connell, rider of Whiskey And Rye, and R.C. Colgan, rider of Mister First (FR), after Whiskey And Rye appeared to stumble and fall on the flat on the turn for home with a circuit to race and brought down Mister First (FR) in the process.
B.T. O’Connell confirmed his charge stumbled independently and fell, while R.C. Colgan confirmed he was brought down after his mount collided with Whiskey And Rye as that horse fell.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the reports, the Stewards therefore took no further action.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Jacks Island, trained by J.P. Kenny was found to be lame post race.
347D Happy New Year From Limerick Racecourse Handicap Hurdle & P.D. Kennedy, rider of A Decent Excuse, trained by Eugene M. O’Sullivan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount weakened quickly.
347E Student Raceday 11th April Mares Beginners Steeplechase & The Stewards granted permission for fences number two and three to be omitted from this race and from the Family Fun Beginners Steeplechase in the interest due to ground conditions.
