J.W. Kennedy, rider of Turanga Lilly trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was brought to a standstill when Stephanie Sunshine fell.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Flemen Majic, ridden by J.B. Kane, and trained by Gavin Cromwell. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. J.B. Kane, rider, stated that he was instructed to get his mount settled as she can be very keen and to get her jumping. He explained that this filly had previously run at Navan (17th December) and she was lame subsequent to this race which necessitated some time off. Today he felt that she raced keenly over the first three flights before settling and he allowed her to keep her rhythm from this point and just hunted away. He added that the filly was caught for speed when the pace quickened but tired towards the end of the race and hung outwards. He concluded by stating that it was on his mind that the filly might blow up at some stage during this race. Gavin Cromwell, trainer, confirmed the instructions and added that he wanted the rider to do his best. He informed the Stewards that this filly had ongoing problems in her hind part which to date have not been specifically diagnosed. He confirmed that the filly was found to be lame on the day following her run at Navan and consequently was given two weeks box rest before returning to light exercise of walking and trotting. He added that she was not on any medication at any stage and had worked and schooled prior to today's race. He described the filly as being light framed which required little exercise. In his opinion she was of limited ability who might have some chance in a handicap hurdle over a similar trip and ground that would not be bottomless. As a result of today's evidence Rule 213 was read to Mr Cromwell but he replied that he was not aware of the content of the rule or of his responsibility to report anything that might have a bearing on the past or future running of a horse. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Flemin Majic was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered in relation in today's run. However, the Stewards were satisfied from the evidence offered by Mr Cromwell that he was in breach of Rule 213 by failing to report that Flemin Majic was lame subsequent to her run at Navan and therefore fined him €400. They also reminded Mr Cromwell to familiarise himself with Rule 213.
