116A M'dn H'dle

R. Walsh, rider of Share The Honour (GB) trained by A.J. Martin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly to the left during this race.

N.T. Prendergast, rider of Charle Brune (FR) trained by T. Shanahan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount cocked its jaw and ran out at the bend entering the back straight.

The Stewards fined Matthew J. Smith, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Ronald Pump (GB), in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

The Stewards interviewed N.T. Prendergast, rider of Charle Brune (FR), trained by T. Shanahan, concerning his riding when leaving the running rail at the entrance to the back straight and racing wide around a turning point which was not part of the course for this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had walked the track prior to racing and was familiar with the route to be taken. He added that his mount cocked his jaw at that point and ran off the track but continued around a railing and obstacle which was not part of the course for this race. He explained that he did not fight his mount as he reacts to that style of riding and consequently he experienced some difficulty in trying to pull him up. He confirmed that he had made a report to the Clerk of the Scales post race in relation to what had happened. Having viewed the recording and considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted the explanation offered.

116B Punchestown For Events (Mares) Mdn H'dle

K.M. Donoghue, rider of Quinnsborotemptres trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with bad interference in avoiding fallers at the third hurdle, lost considerable ground and was unable to meaningfully compete from that point.

M.J. Bolger, rider of Endless River (GB) trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was badly hampered by the fallers at the third hurdle.

116C Panoramic Restaurant H'cap H'dle

D. Meyler, rider of Levi trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having burst a blood vessel. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer confirmed that Levi had burst a blood vessel.

116E Adare Manor Opportunity M'dn H'dle

N.M. Kelly, rider of Sharps Choice (GB), trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his saddle slipped sideways on landing over the last hurdle which unbalanced him and resulted in him being unseated.

116F Punchestown For Events H'cap H'dle

The Stewards requested a report from Liam P. Cusack, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Snugsborough Hall, placed first, as compared with its recent form over hurdles. Liam P. Cusack reported that this animal was an excitable and immature type when he acquired him. His best run prior to today was on nice ground at Leopardstown and since then he ran very keen to the start and during his run at Naas on the 28th January on yielding to soft ground. On the advice of D.J. Mullins the animal was fitted with a hood at Gowran Park on the 11th March but was unable to handle the testing conditions. He felt that the application of the hood today, the good underfoot conditions and the fact that D.J. Mullins was able to drop his mount in behind the leaders contributed to the improved run. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

The Stewards enquired into an incident early in the straight involving Braize (FR), ridden by A. Ring, unplaced, Fire On, ridden by D.J. McInerney, unplaced and Fraser (GER), ridden by D.E. Mullins, unplaced, where it appeared that Fraser (GER) ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by A. Ring riding carelessly and having taken his good previous record into consideration, cautioned him.

Owing to the low elevation of the sun, the Stewards granted permission for hurdle #1 to be omitted from the fifth and sixth races.
