Navan 6th October 2021

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

W.T. Byrne rode Indignation (FR) (reserve) , trained by John C. McConnell (Race 7)

295B Arkle Bar Median Auction M'dn

The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Miltonia (USA), trained by Jennifer Monaghan, for failing to lodge the passport in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (i).

W.J. Lee, rider of Dancing Rebel trained by K.J. Condon, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with interference at and around the one furlong marker.

C.T. Keane, rider of Knocklane Lass trained by G.M.Lyons, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away from the starting stalls.

R.P. Cleary, rider of Life In Colour (GB) trained by W. McCreery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away from the starting stalls.

L.F. Roche, rider of Siesta Beach (GB) trained by M.D. O'Callaghan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not handle the ground and hung left under pressure.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference about one furlong from the finish involving Dancing Rebel, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed third and Siesta Beach (GB), ridden by L.F. Roche, placed second, where it appeared that Siesta Beach (GB) drifted left and may have interfered with Dancing Rebel. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence W.J. Lee stated that there was room when he challenged on the inner of Siesta Beach (GB) but he had to check when that animal continued to go to the left despite the efforts of her rider. L.F. Roche stated that he had switched his whip in an effort to straighten his mount as he knew W.J. Lee was close to him but she hung under pressure. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Siesta Beach (GB) had caused interference to Dancing Rebel and as a result of this interference had improved it's finishing position. As a consequence, they reversed the placings of the second and third placed horses and amended the result to read as follows;

Amended Result:

First: Heart To Heart (GB)
Second: Dancing Rebel
Third: Siesta Beach (GB)
Fourth: Queen's Pardon (GB)
Fifth: Tosen Wish
Sixth: Celebrate In Style

Furthermore, the Stewards were of the opinion that the interference which occurred was accidental in nature, as they determined that L.F. Roche had taken all reasonable steps to prevent the interference from occurring and therefore took no further action.

The Stewards requested a report from A.P.O'Brien, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Heart To Heart (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent run at Navan on the 4th September when finishing last of the eight runners. Patrick Keating, Authorised representative for A.P. O'Brien reported that their charge appreciated the cut in the ground conditions today which in their opinion brought about the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

The Stewards requested a report from D.Broad, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of The Peckhampouncer, placed first, as compared with its recent form. D. Broad stated that The Peckhampouncer got upset in stalls and missed the break at the Curragh on the 22nd May 2021. On the 28th of May 2021 at Fairyhouse his charge ran very flat and never got going and on his most recent run at Fairyhouse on the 20th of September 2021 the ground was too quick for him. He further added that the return to Navan where he previously ran well and the softer ground conditions helped bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

295E NavanRacecourse.ie M'dn

The Stewards reviewed an incident over two furlongs from the finish involving Fanore, ridden by M.A. Enright, unplaced, Warren Beach, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed fourth and Porto Ercole, ridden by C.T. Keane, unplaced, where it appeared that Fanore stumbled in running. Having reviewed the recording of that part of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no action was warranted.

M.A. Enright, rider of Fanore trained by Mrs Denise Foster, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount clipped a heel in the straight.

295F Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) H'cap

D. McMonagle, rider of Rosmana (FR) trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not get a clear run in this race.

J.M. Sheridan, rider of Affable (GB) trained by K.J. Condon, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was hampered after two furlongs.

The Stewards reviewed an incident about two furlongs from the finish involving Sasta, ridden by K.J. Manning, unplaced, Menagerie, ridden by H.J. Horgan, unplaced and Mean Fomhair, ridden by R.C. Colgan, unplaced, where it appeared that Mean Fomhair lost her hind legs in running. Having reviewed the recording of that part of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no action was warranted.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Mean Fomhair, trained by B. Duffy, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

295G1 The Yellow Furze H'cap

The Stewards reviewed an incident about two furlongs from the finish involving Chacha Dancer, ridden by R. Whearty, placed second, Dha Leath, ridden by B.M. Coen, placed first and Clueless Hill, ridden by James J. Doyle, unplaced, where it appeared that Chacha Dancer went to the left when the whip was applied before being corrected and may have carried Dha Leath inwards. Having reviewed the recording of that part of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no action was warranted.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined French Company, trained by J.G.Coogan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
