B.M. Coen, rider of Bay Of Plenty trained by J.P. Murtagh, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ducked left when given a smack.
S. Foley, rider of The Snapper trained by Jack W. Davison, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount rolled around under pressure.
D.N. Curran, rider of Trinity Road trained by Jack W. Davison, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount reared up leaving the stalls.
273D Care At Home Services Nursery H'capM.P. Sheehy, rider of Twenty To Three trained by David Marnane, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran away on the way to the start.
273E GAIN The Advantage Series Nursery H'capThe Stewards interviewed L.T. McAteer, rider of Aurifodina, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, L.T. McAteer accepted that he was in breach of the whip guidelines. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that L.T. McAteer was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration and pursuant to the provisions of R10(6)(a), the Stewards suspended L.T. McAteer for six racedays.
The Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of Aurifodina, trained by J. S. Bolger, placed first compared with its recent run at Galway on the 6th September. Evidence was heard from Gerard Flynn, Authorised representative for the trainer concerned, who stated that he had no explanation to forward. Evidence was also heard from Mr Mark Bird, Rules of Racing Handicapper. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards found that they were placed in an unsatisfactory position and referred the matter to a Senior Racing Official for further investigation.
273F Irish EBF Auction Series M'dnD. McMonagle, rider of Gianh River trained by Denis W. Cullen, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount acted up in the stalls.
