027A Naas H'cap S'chase

The Stewards requested a report from Gordon Elliott, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Minella Till Dawn, placed first, as compared with its most recent form. The trainer reported that his charge had disappointed on his previous run when pulling up in the Grade B Troytown Chase over three miles on 8/11/20. He said his charge had a break since then, was freshened up and appeared to benefit from a drop back in trip today to two and a half miles in what he felt was a lesser race. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

027E Adare Manor Opportunity H'cap H'dle

The Stewards enquired into possible interference rounding the final bend involving Fou Diligence, ridden by T.N. Brett, placed first, Djasek (FR), ridden by L.A. McKenna, placed fourth and Mc Alpine, ridden by J.P. O'Sullivan, placed third, where it appeared that Djasek (FR) ran short of room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. L.A. McKenna stated that his mount was travelling well at the time of the incident but ran short of room and was forced to check. T.N. Brett stated that his mount was running one width of the rail at all times and felt that he had not contributed to the incident. J.P O'Sullivan stated that his mount was travelling well on the approach to the final bend when half a length up on Djasek, he said the horse in front of him slowed up causing him to move slightly towards the rail in order to avoid clipping heels which caused the incident. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and were satisfied that no alteration to the Judge's placings was warranted.

The Stewards interviewed T.N. Brett, rider of Fou Diligence, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that T.N. Brett was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record they cautioned him on this occasion.
