J.G. Gilligan, rider of Coulonces (FR) trained by Paul John Gilligan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount burst.
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of No Memory, ridden by A. McCurtin, and trained by William Coleman O'Brien. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. A. McCurtin, stated that his instructions were to take his time, get settled and do the best he can from there. In the race itself, he felt they went a fast gallop early on where he was flat out. He kept tabs on French Made (Fr) but leaving the backstraight they got away from him and he squeezed his mount all the way up the straight. He further stated that his mount is very genuine and she ran on for keeping at her up the straight. William Coleman O'Brien, confirmed the instuctions and expressed his satisfaction with the ride given. He stated that the trip and conditions were suitable and that the mare needs to be held up in her races. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that the horse was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found the trainer and rider in breach of Rule 212A(ii) and having taken their respective records into account fined William Coleman O'Brien €2000, suspended A. McCurtin for 14 racedays and ordered the forfeiture of his riding fee and used their powers under Rule 212A (v) to suspend No Memory from running for a period of 42 days.
