McMonagle, unplaced and Well Suited, ridden by W.M. Lordan, unplaced, where it appeared that Well Suited checked when tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. McMonagle stated that while his mount was not handling the ground, he had maintained a straight line. J.A. Powell stated that his mount was hanging to the left and ducked in when he changed his whip hand. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by J.A. Powell riding carelessly, this being a breach of Rule 214. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that R.C. Colgan was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency.
