207A Caulfield Industrial Irish EBF M'dn
R.P. Cleary, rider of Due North trained by Ms. Sheila Lavery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung right in the straight.
207B COLM QUINN BMW Irish EBF (Fillies) M'dnFollowing the running of this race, the Stewards met to consider an objection by the IHRB Veterinary Officer Ms Nicola O'Connor under Rule 262(iv)(c) into the identity of the winner Alizarine (GB), trained by Mrs John Harrington. Ms O'Connor stated that the winner's microchip number was read by Brendan Daly, IHRB Security Officer, before the animal departed the winners enclosure. She was informed by Mr Daly that he was unable to establish the identity of the animal based on the reading on his scanner. Ms O'Connor subsequently carried out an identity check on the filly presented to the sampling unit as Alizarine (GB) and found that the microchip number on her e-scanner did not correspond to that of Alizarine(GB). Ms O'Connor identified the microchip number as being that of Aurora Princess, a runner in the fifth race, also trained by Mrs John Harrington. Ms O'Connor confirmed that all runners today were identified with an e-scanner on their arrival at the racecourse. She confirmed that Alizarine (GB) was identified in her stable when this error was established and had not run in the second race. Ms O'Connor informed the Stewards that the identity of both horses were confirmed in the presence of Mr Niall Amond, head travelling man and Authorised representative for the trainer. In her evidence, Mrs John Harrington accepted the full facts as given by the IHRB Veterinary Officer and informed the Stewards that Mr Amond had acted in her absence as she had only arrived in the parade ring prior to this race. She accepted full responsibility for the error and advised the Stewards that both Alizarine (GB) and Aurora Princess were bay fillies with very similar markings. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards upheld the objection. As the horse Alizarine (GB) did not run in this race, that horse was deemed to be unplaced under Rule 266 and the horse purported to be Alizarine (GB) was disqualified. The amended result now reads;
First; Twinkle
Second; Radiyka
Third; Past Time (GB)
Fourth; Buenaventura
Fifth; Elizabeth's Pride
Sixth; Cheeky Peek
The Stewards referred the matter to the CEO of the IHRB for further consideration.
O.J. Orr, rider of Sweet Gardenia (GB) trained by John Joseph Murphy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was short for room on the turn into the straight.
R.P. Cleary, rider of Tellthemi'mhere trained by P.O'Rourke, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung right in the straight.
207D COLM QUINN BMW Mile H'capR.P. Cleary, rider of Quizical trained by Ms. Sheila Lavery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lugged right up the straight.
The Stewards reviewed an incident in the home straight involving Quizical, ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed second and Mosala, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed third, where it appeared both horses got close. Having viewed the recording of that part of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards took no further action.
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Spanish Tenor, ridden by L.F. Roche, and trained by Adrian McGuinness. Evidence was heard from the trainer and rider concerned. Adrian McGuinness, stated that he acquired this animal after it won at Tipperary on the 1st June and since then it had only run once under his care. Having reviewed it's previous form, he instructed L.F. Roche to go a good hard pace as the animal had previously won when setting a strong pace. He added that he was disappointed that his charge had not raced up the hill. He advised the Stewards that his charge can be very free at home and was fitted with a cross noseband today. In his opinion restraint would be required in future runs. He confirmed that in the short time that he had care of this horse, no abnormalities had been found. L.F. Roche, confirmed the instructions and added that he had attempted to make the running from a wide draw but his mount had set alight in so doing. He added that his mount had free wheeled into the dip but had tired when squeezed for an effort on the start of the uphill run. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations of both the rider and the trainer.
207E caulfieldindustrial.com H'capC.D. Hayes, rider of Moddy Poddle trained by Ms. Sheila Lavery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lugged a little left in the straight.
207F1 Caulfield Industrial H'capThe Stewards interviewed S.P. Davis, rider of Emphatic, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, S.P. Davis stated that he had mistakingly exceeded the guidelines by one extra hit. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that S.P. Davis was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned S.P. Davis on this occasion.
D. King, rider of Silent Performance trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got tight for room at the last bend and subsequently clipped a heel.
