The Stewards enquired into the reason for the late withdrawal of Banjo, trained by Denis W. Cullen at 5.17 p.m with "Going" given as the reason. Denis W. Cullen stated that he had declared on "Good to Firm" ground with the comment that watering continued. He accepted that the going description had not changed but having walked the track he considered that his charge being a ten year old national hunt horse would be racing on firmer ground and while he was a clean sound horse, the decision was made in the best interests of the animals welfare. He complimented the presentation of todays track. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that there was no material change in the ground description since the time of declaration.
