The Stewards fined the following trainers in respect of their non-runners:-

Joseph Patrick O'Brien, trainer of Charmed (GB) (Off feed) - €200
Joseph Patrick O'Brien, trainer of Arthurian Fame (Off feed) - €200

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

S. Foley replaced W.J. Lee on Gulf Of Aidan, trained by K.J. Condon (Race 1)(Stewards permission)
O.J. Orr rode Linus Larrabee (reserve) , trained by Edward Lynam (Race 4)
J.M. Sheridan rode Moving Forward (reserve) , trained by Andrew Kinirons (Race 6)

251A Floodlit Fridays Return Claiming M'dn

The Stewards interviewed A.J. Farragher, rider of Airlift, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that A.J. Farragher was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended A.J. Farragher for 3 racedays.

R.P. Whelan, rider of Sienna Lady trained by M.Halford, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Dromod Lad, trained by Edward P.Harty, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race.

M.A. Gallagher, rider of Waterboy trained by Mark Fahey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost his action behind and also made a respiratory noise in running.

R.P. Whelan, rider of Leabaland trained by M.Halford, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stumbled out of the starting stalls.

The Stewards interviewed M.A. Enright, rider of Chagall, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that M.A. Enright was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended M.A. Enright for 1 raceday.

The Stewards reviewed an incident inside the final one and a half furlongs involving Waterboy, ridden by M.A. Gallagher,unplaced and Scarlet Seymour, ridden by F.F. Da Silva,unplaced. Having reviewed the recording and considered the matter, the Stewards decided that no further action was warranted.

The Stewards requested a report from Edward Lynam, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Chagall, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Cork on the 9th September when finishing tenth of fourteen runners. Edward Lynam reported that the removal of blinkers and the step up in trip were contributing factors to the improved run. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report

R.P. Whelan, rider of Arnhem trained by Miss Natalia Lupini, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount raced very keen in the first furlong.

G.M. Ryan, rider of Shawaf (GB) trained by Damian Joseph English, reported to the Clerk of Scales that he had to check his mount soon after leaving the starting stalls

James J. Doyle, rider of Great Midge (GB) trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away from the starting stalls.

The Stewards interviewed S.M. Mooney, rider of Never Back Down, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that S.M. Mooney was in breach of R10(3)(h) by using his whip with his arm above shoulder height. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned S.M. Mooney on this occasion.

At the request of the Stewards, O.J. Orr, rider of Collective Power, trained by Edward Lynam, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount reared up when the gates opened.

251E Hollywoodbets Apprentice H'cap

The Stewards informed James McAuley, trainer that Timemakesitfine, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.

S.T. McCullagh, rider of Cautious Approach (GB) trained by Richard John O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race.

L.T. McAteer, rider of Spruce Meadows trained by John James Feane, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Spruce Meadows, trained by John James Feane, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be coughing post race possibly as a result of kick back.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Chess Grand Master (GB), ridden by Vanessa Maye, and trained by C. Moore. Evidence was heard from the trainer and rider concerned. C. Moore stated that the owner had acquired this animal with a past tendon injury and today was his second run in his care. He added that he had instructed the rider to jump out of stalls smart, get a good position and make the best of her way home. He expressed his overall disappointment with the run but was satisfied with the ride considering that his charge was unable to go with the fast early pace having jumped out of stalls slowly. Vanessa Maye confirmed the riding instructions and explained her ride while the video was played. She stated that her mount was slowly away, was unable to go the very fast pace, never travelled at any stage of the race and only ran on a little in the straight. She also explained that she did not apply the whip when she knew that she was not in a position to be involved in the placings. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Chess Grand Master (GB) was coughing post race and evidence of a previous tendon injury was noted. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations but reminded Vanessa Maye concerniung her responsibility to report any matter that may have affected her mounts performance this being her obligation under Rule 213. Mr. P.N. Reynolds, Acting Steward absented himself from this enquiry and Mr. Justice T. Hunt acted as Chairman of the Acting Stewards

The Stewards interviewed J.A. Heffernan, rider of Order Of Australia, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence he stated that his mount had lost a near fore shoe at the start of this race and was leaning to the right throughout. He advised the Stewards that this animal is not a straight forward ride and the whip was used a number of times for corrective purposes. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that some use of the whip was for corrective purposes and therefore did not find J.A. Heffernan in breach of R10(3). Mr. P. Law absented himself from this enquiry.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final furlong involving Gormanston, ridden by R.C. Colgan, placed third and Dame Rapide, ridden by Siobhan Rutledge, placed first , where it appeared that Dame Rapide moved quickly to the right and impeded Gormanston . Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action.

R.C. Colgan, rider of Gormanston trained by Nigel Thomas Slevin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was turned sideways when impeded.

The Stewards enquired into an incident about one and a half furlongs from the finish involving Mother's Approach, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, unplaced and Aldente (GB), ridden by S. Foley, unplaced, where it appeared that Mother's Approach made a sharp manoeuvre to the left and caused Aldente (GB) to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the incident was caused by J.A. Heffernan riding carelessly, this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended J.A. Heffernan for 4 racedays. Mr. P. Law, Acting Steward absented himself from this enquiry.

J.A. Heffernan, rider of Mother's Approach trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ducked left in the straight.

S. Foley, rider of Aldente (GB) trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount checked in the straight.
