A.J. Slattery, rider of Trump Card trained by Conor O'Dwyer, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was tight for room rounding the bend at the end of the back straight about five furlongs from the finish.

The Stewards enquired into an incident about four and a half furlongs from the finish on the bend at the end of the back straight involving Awkwafina, ridden by D. King, Tenth Amendment, ridden by C.D. Maxwell, Happy Lad, ridden by S.P. Bird and Trump Card, ridden by A.J. Slattery, where it appeared that Trump Card checked when racing close to the running rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence A.J. Slattery stated that his mount got tight for room and backed out when Awkwafina raced along side his mount. D. King stated that he was outside Trump Card when it got tight for room and his mount moved outwards when bumped. C.D. Maxwell stated that there was some room between his mount and Trump Card which was racing close to the rail but felt that there was insufficient room at that point for any horse to come between horses. S.P. Bird stated that he did not contribute to any interference which took place on his inner. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were unable to apportion any blame to any rider and they took no further action other than to advice D. King to ride with more awareness as to what's happening around him during a race. Ms Elaine O'Farrell accompanied D. King at this enquiry.

Sam Ewing stated that his mount had travelled well into the staright but had levelled off and in his opinion he had maintained a straight racing line. R. Whearty stated his mount had raced to the front and looked around before drifting slightly inwards. He added that he had tried to squeeze his mount to straighten her at that point. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the interference which occurred was accidental in nature, made no alteration to the Judges placings and therefore took no further action.
