Evidence was also heard from Ms T. O'Meara, Clerk of the Course and Ms Megan Leigh, the person manning the road crossing and who the riders recognised as attempting to run into position while holding an orange flag. Having considered all the evidence and the circumstances that led to confusion at the second last fence, the Stewards using their powers under Rule 10 were satisfied to allow the result to stand. In view of the circumstances that occurred at the second last fence, the Stewards decided to refer this matter to the C.E.O. for a full investigation.

In his evidence Sam Ewing stated that his mount had headed Highstreetfashion when receiving a bump. He added that he put down his whip, got his mount balanced but received a second bump soon after. P.M. O'Brien stated that his mount was wandering and then drifted left for which he pulled the whip through into his other hand and straightened him up. In her evidence Miss Fitzgibbon stated that her mount had gurgled at the top of the hill and then began to run on giving her a feeling that he might get an official placing. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Miss Fitzgibbon was in breach of R10(3)(b) by using her whip unnecessarily when her chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone. McKenna, placed second and Lucky Lyreen, ridden by Mr J.J. Codd, placed first, where it appeared that Faulty (GB) tightened Lucky Lyreen who in turn tightened Littlefoot which was racing close to the running rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence L.A. McKenna stated that both horses came in on his mount causing him to lose momentum. Mr Codd stated that he was on the quarters of Faulty (GB) when he edged onto his own mount which lost momentum and went in on Littlefoot. Mr Taaffe stated that his mount had edged left but he took corrective action when hearing a shout from Mr Codd. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings. They did, however, consider that Mr Taaffe was in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended him for one raceday.

McKenna stated that his mount was beginning to rally when receiving continuous contact and losing momentum. He did admit that he did not have to stop riding. Mr Codd stated that these two horses were involved in a very tight finish but neither rider had stopped riding and in the last few strides, Littlefoot had started to edge outwards.
