The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference over one furlong from the finish involving Sturlasson, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed second, and Spanish Cara, ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed third, where it appeared that Sturlasson drifted off a straight racing line and into the path of Spanish Cara. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, R.P. Cleary stated that he had tracked Sturlasson but that animal drifted when he was making his challenge on Spanish Cara causing her to check. He added that it took a while to get his mount going again and she ran on well to the line. D.P. McDonogh stated that he was doing his best to keep his mount straight by riding hard on the right hand rein and could not do any more owing to the animals greenness. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Sturlasson had caused interference to Spanish Cara, he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action. .
D.P. McDonogh, rider of Sturlasson, trained by Kieran P. Cotter, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount went left out of the starting stalls and then hung left under pressure.
R.P. Cleary, rider of Spanish Cara, trained by J. S. Bolger, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was checked about one furlong from the finish.
061B DMG Media H'capThe Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident inside the final one hundred and fifty yards involving The Highway Rat, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed second, and Harry's Hill (GB), ridden by M.W Hassett, placed sixth, where it appeared that both horses brushed off each other. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
C.D. Hayes, rider of Jon Riggens, trained by Edward Lynam, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount reared up as the starting stalls opened.
At the request of the Raceday Stewards, M. Mjoka, rider of Only Spoofing, trained by Kevin Thomas Coleman, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped right out of the starting stalls.
At the request of the Raceday Stewards, M.W Hassett, rider of Harry's Hill (GB), trained by Martin Hassett, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount went left out of the starting stalls.
061C Cavalor Equine Nutrition (Fillies) M'dnThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Water Nymph, trained by A.P.O'Brien, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
061D Goffs London Sale (C&G) M'dnS.T. McCullagh, rider of Nicky's Champ, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left throughout this race.
J.M. Sheridan, rider of Bright Legend, trained by J.A.Stack, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran around under pressure.
M.A. Enright, rider of Moondharrig, trained by Eoin Doyle, reported at a Stewards' enquiry that his mount got very upset in the starting stalls, reared up and was slowly away.
The Raceday Stewards enquired into the failure of M.A. Enright, rider of Moondharrig, to make a post race report that his mount had started very slowly in accordance with the provisions of Rule 213. In his evidence, M.A. Enright stated that he should have made a post race report but he had received a knock to his shoulder when his mount got very upset in the starting stalls, reared up and was slowly away. He added that he sought medical attention when returning to the weigh room. Having considered all the evidence, the Raceday Stewards considered that there were mitigating circumstances on this occasion and did not take any further action other than to remind him of his responsibilities to comply with Rule 213.
S.M. Crosse, rider of Shadowed, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left when he hit the front.
061E Lodge Park Stud EBF Park Express StakesThe Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident about two hundred yards from the finish involving Agartha, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, unplaced, and Angels Wrath, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, unplaced, where it appeared that Angels Wrath checked when trying to get through on the inside of Agartha who was holding the rails position. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, J.A. Heffernan stated that he anticipated that Agartha might run off the rails and he lined up his own mount for a possible gap but it did not materialise. D.P. McDonogh stated that there was no room for anybody to come through on his inner. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action.
J.A. Heffernan, rider of Angels Wrath, trained by J.P. Murtagh, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount had no luck in running.
C.D. Hayes, rider of Star Girls Aalmal, trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount did not get a clear run in the closing stages of this race.
061F Paddy Power Irish LincolnshireThe Raceday Stewards informed Adrian McGuinness, trainer of Finans Bay, that a repeat of todays behaviour where his charge refused to race when the starting stalls opened may render the animal liable to a suspension.
At the request of the Raceday Stewards, D.P. McDonogh, rider of Finans Bay, trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount refused to come out of the starting stalls when the gates opened.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Emporio, trained by Donnacha Aidan O'Brien, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have earth in both nostrils and coughed a few times while being examined probably as a consequence of this kickback, otherwise was post race normal.
061G Westgrove Hotel H'capC.J. MacRedmond, rider of Storm Eric, trained by Jamie Flynn, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran keen and stopped quickly.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Cliffs Of Freedom, trained by C.Byrnes, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have lost a hind shoe, otherwise was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.
At the request of the Raceday Stewards, G.P. Halpin, rider of Cliffs Of Freedom, trained by C.Byrnes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran keen in the early stages of this race and levelled off in the latter stages. .
061H Music After Racing McDonnells Bar H'capR.P. Whelan, rider of Fan Club Rules, trained by Luke Comer, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped awkwardly out of the starting stalls and later on lost his action two furlongs from the finish.
C. Ngcobo, rider of Pollanassa, trained by Kevin Thomas Coleman, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got tired in the closing stages of this race.
R.C. Colgan, rider of Hot Sunset (GB), trained by Joseph Anthony Murray, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount went right on leaving the starting stalls.
The Raceday Stewards interviewed J.A. Powell, rider of Run Forrest Run, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, J.A. Powell stated that he had mistakenly misjudged his use of the whip in relation to frequency. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that J.A. Powell was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards cautioned J.A. Powell on this occasion.
At the request of the Raceday Stewards, S.D. Bowen, rider of Super Cub (GB), trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped right from the starting stalls.
