The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Anner Castle, ridden by S. Foley, placed first, Seattle Creek (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed second and Flora, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed third, where it appeared that Flora was bumped, shortly before the finishing line. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J.A. Heffernan stated that his filly ran keen throughout but had settled in the closing stages and received a bump when making her challenge. C.D. Hayes stated that his mount drifted in front but he collected him up and avoided interference. S. Foley stated his mount was wearing cheekpieces for the first time, ran around and idled when he hit the front and he was satisfied that he took all steps to avoid interference. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the interference did not improve Anner Castle's finishing position and they made no alteration to the Judge's placings.
