Patrick Heffernan / Banjoman Referral Hearing

Patrick Heffernan / Banjoman – Clonmel, 21st May 2009

The Referrals Committee Mr. Philip Caffrey (in the Chair), Judge Tony Hunt and Mr. J.R. Craigie met in the Turf Club, The Curragh, Co. Kildare on 3rd June to consider the referral of Mr. Patrick Heffernan and Banjoman following the running of the Cashel Maiden Hurdle.  The matter had been referred to the Referrals Committee by Mr. Denis Egan, Chief Executive, as the Stewards at Clonmel had been unable to conduct an enquiry into the poor performance of Banjoman as Mr. Heffernan had left the racecourse.  Subsequently Mr. Heffernan reported to the Turf Club that Banjoman had burst a blood vessel.

Evidence was heard from Mr. Heffernan.

Having considered the evidence, the Committee found that no breach of Rule had taken place.

The case was presented by Mr. Denis Egan, Chief Executive of the Irish Turf Club.
