The Appeals Body, Mr. J.R. Craigie (in the Chair), Mr. B.J. Fitzsimmons and Mr. Edward Flannery, met at the Stand House Hotel, The Curragh, Co. Kildare, on Thursday, 31st August, 2006, to consider an appeal lodged by trainer Mr. M.J. Grassick against the decision of the Acting Stewards at Tramore on 19th August, 2006, when following the running of the Newbridge Silverware Handicap, “Lake Tahoe”, trained by M.J. Grassick, having been first past the post was disqualified for causing interference.  Evidence was heard from Mr. Grassick, M.F. O’Donoghue, Stewards Secretary, D.M. Grant, rider of “Owennacurra Bobby” trained by Thomas Cooper, and J.A. Heffernan, rider of “Lake Tahoe”, and a film of the race was also viewed.  

Having considered the evidence, the Appeals Body decided to dismiss the Appeal.

Mr. M.J. Grassick was represented by Mr. Liam Guidera, Frank Ward & Co. Solicitors, Thomas Cooper was represented by Mr. Andrew Coonan, Coonan Cawley Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare, and the case was presented to the Committee by Mr. Brian Price, Wilkinson and Price Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.
