Evidence was heard from the rider and Peter Delmer, authorised representative for the trainer concerned. P. Townend, stated that his instructions were to jump off with the leaders and to do his best from there. He stated that he was happy with his position and felt he was close enough if good enough but that his mount had then choked at the end of the back straight and continued to make a noise all the way up the home straight. Furthermore he added that he was surprised at how well his mount had finished considering the noise that it was making. W.P. Mullins's authorised representative, confirmed the instructions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride. Furthermore, he added that he was initially disappointed with his charges performance until he heard the noise it was making upon pulling up. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Frere Tuck was post race normal. Samples were taken for further analysis.
