178C Mullingar H'cap H'dle

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Walkers Point, ridden by Mr N. McParlan, and trained by S. McParlan. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Mr N. McParlan stated that his instructions were to jump off well and to get the best possible result. Mr. Mc Parlan added that he was satisfied with how well his mount jumped off, however he got squeezed in at the third hurdle, he tried to push hard for a strong finish however his mount stopped quickly about 3 furlongs from home. S. McParlan confirmed the instructions given and added that his charge is difficult to train and tends to run disappointingly if he gets squeezed in a race. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Walkers Point was found to have had skin abrasions on his right fore knee but was otherwise post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered regarding the running and riding of Walkers Point. The Stewards were, however, satisfied that Mr. N. McParlan was in breach of Rule 213 in that he failed to report anything which may have affected the running of his horse. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards cautioned Mr. N. McParlan on this occasion.

178D Paul & Carmel Fay Memorial H'cap H'dle

D.J. O'Keeffe, rider of Lessofdnegativity trained by A.J. McNamara, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a noise from the half way point onwards.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Eimear, trained by Matthew J. Smith, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be coughing post race.

The Stewards requested a report from David Peter Dunne, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Ballycastle Girl, placed first, as compared with its recent form. David Peter Dunne reported that his charge finished disappointingly on her last run where she did not handle the track and wore a tongue tie which worked against her. Since her last run, she has been managed for an asthma condition. For today's run his charge did not wear a tongue tie and this, along with better ground conditions, helped to bring about an improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

178G Athlone (C&G) M'dn H'dle

C.D. Maxwell, rider of Presence Of Power trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a noise in running.
