The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Queen's Pardon (GB), trained by Eddie & Patrick Harty, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Adrian McGuinness, trainer, following the performance of Iva Batt, placed second in this race, which appeared to represent an improvement on it’s previous run at Naas on the 6th May when finishing eleventh of fourteen runners to the winner Dandyville. On that day, the IHRB Veterinary Officer reported the animal to be post race normal when examined at the request of the Raceday Stewards. Adrian McGuinness reported that he was disappointed with his charges performance at Naas and had her examined later at his premises. He confirmed that no abnormality was found during this examination and nothing obvious showed in the subsequent days. As a consequence the filly was turned out into the paddocks for a few days to freshen up and then returned back into training. Having considered the report and liaised with the IHRB Handicapper, the Raceday Stewards noted it’s contents.

R.P. Cleary, rider of Comhra, trained by J. S. Bolger, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received a little bit of interference after leaving the starting stalls.

S. Foley, rider of Eternal Silence (USA), trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was restless in the starting stalls, ran keen and hung right during this race.

J.A. Heffernan, rider of Jackie Oh, trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that it got very tight after a furlong.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident about two furlongs from the finish involving Dower House, ridden by W.M. Lordan, placed eighth, and Tahiyra, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed first, where it appeared that Tahiyra may have made contact with Dower House when manoeuvering out to make her challenge. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, W.M. Lordan stated that his mount had made the running and was running on empty when the field of runners quickened by her. C.D. Hayes stated that he felt that his mount was holding her line when he committed for his run at the same time that Dower House was running on empty. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action.

133F Heider Family Stables Gallinule Stakes

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final furlong involving Drumroll, ridden by R.L. Moore, placed second, Kingswood (GB), ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed third, and Teutates, ridden by G.M. Ryan, placed first, where it appeared that interference may have occurred on a few occasions. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, R.P. Whelan stated that his mount was coming with a run but ran green and his final placing was not affected. R.L. Moore stated that his mount ran green and was joined by Teutates who bumped his own mount twice. G.M. Ryan stated that his mount hit the front a long way out and was joined later by Drumroll. He added that he hit his mount once with the whip in his right hand and he went left. He then pulled it throught to his left hand to correct him, but in his opinion, something caught his animals eye and he began to hang violently to the left despite his efforts to correct him. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Teutates had caused interference to Drumroll and as a result of this interference had improved its finishing position. As a consequence, the Raceday Stewards reversed the placings of the first and second placed horses and amended the result to read as follows: Amended Result: First: Drumroll, Second: Teutates, Third: Kingswood (GB), Fourth: Young Ireland, Fifth: Save Your Love, Sixth: Mister Mister (GER). Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that G.M. Ryan was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard, they suspended him for two racedays.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed R.P. Whelan, rider of Kingswood (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, R.P. Whelan admitted that he had exceeded the whip guidelines for frequency and explained that his mount was running around and being intimidated in a tight finish. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that R.P. Whelan was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended R.P. Whelan for two racedays.

R.P. Whelan, rider of Kingswood (GB), trained by John S. O'Donoghue, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount wandered around a bit in the straight.

Brendan W.Duke, trainer of Bold Approach, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge was struck into on his near hind during this race. This was confirmed by the IHRB Veterinary Officer at the request of the Raceday Stewards.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident about two furlongs from the finish involving Bradesco, ridden by N.M. Crosse, Bold Approach, ridden by R.P. Cleary, and Morph Speed, ridden by M.P. Sheehy where it appeared that Bold Approach met with some interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, R.P. Cleary stated that his mount was not travelling well into the straight when the field of runners came around him and he got a bump from the horse beside him. N.M. Crosse stated that his mount got flat footed in the straight when the field of runners came around him. M.P. Sheehy stated that he was riding on the outside of Bold Approach and felt that he had kept a straight racing line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and they took no further action.
