The Stewards fined the following trainers in respect of their non-runners:-

Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer of The Welsh Wizard (Ground) - €200
J.Motherway, trainer of Na Trachtalai Abu (Ground) - €200

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

D. Meyler replaced A.F. O'Neill on Cloudy Morning, trained by M.T. O'Donovan (Race 2)(Injury)
J.W. Kennedy rode Udo's Choice (reserve) , trained by P.J. Rothwell (Race 6)
P.N. O'Brien replaced S.J. Crimin on Bach On Track, trained by Patrick Downey (Race 2)(Stewards' Permission, see enquiry).

166B Martinstown Opportunity H'cap H'dle

The Stewards enquired into the circumstances surrounding the late arrival of S.J. Crimin, the declared rider of Bach On Track, necessitating a change of rider. Evidence was heard from S.J. Crimin. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards gave permission for P.N O'Brien to replace S.J. Crimin on Bach On Track and fined S.J. Crimin €200 for failing to present himself to be weighed out within the time fixed under Rule 196.

The Stewards enquired into an incident after the last hurdle involving Beautiful Ben, ridden by B.F. Cawley, Couleur De La Loi, ridden by J.M. Moore, and Cloudy Morning, ridden by D. Meyler, where it appeared Beautiful Ben was forced to snatch-up and Couleur De La Loi ran short of room on the rails. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found D. Meyler in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly and having taken his record into account suspended him for two race days.

The Stewards enquired into an incident on the turn into the backstraight involving Gold Class (GB), ridden by J.W. Kennedy, Zanouska (USA), ridden by L.P. Dempsey, and Castelo Branco, ridden by J.B. Kane, where it appeared Castelo Blanco ran short of room and unseated its rider. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards deemed the incident to be accidental in nature and took no further action.

166D Fast Shipping Bellewstown H'cap H'dle

D.E. Mullins, rider of Erlkonig (GER) trained by Anthony Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount missed a few hurdles in this race.

166E Western Commercial Vehicles M'dn H'dle

P.N. O'Brien, rider of Boston Heather, trained by D.J.Barry, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount received accidental interference at the bottom bend and was forced to check.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Mr Bien, at the request of trainer, Thomas O'Neill, and reported the animal to be post race normal.

166F Sean Rothwell Construction H'cap H'dle

D.G. Hogan, rider of Ocean Glandore, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran short of room at the bottom bend and was forced to check.

The Stewards interviewed R.W.T. Brabazon, trainer of Kindly Vinnie, regarding the late arrival of the horse into the Parade Ring. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that he had difficulty applying the tongue strap to his charge which caused the delay. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards severely cautioned the trainer regarding his responsibilities with regard to parade ring procedures in future.

166G McLoughlin Oil INH Flat Race

The Stewards interviewed Mr John J Fitzpatrick, rider of Try And Try Again, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found Mr John J Fitzpatrick in breach of Reg 10 3.(b) by using his whip when his chance of being placed was clearly gone and having taken his record into account the Stewards suspended him for two race days.
