C. Roche / Take A Stroll Appeal

Navan – 19th December 2009

The Appeals Body (Division One), Mr. Ronan Keane (in the Chair), Mrs. J.O. Onions and Mr. N.B. Wachman met in the Turf Club, The Curragh, Co. Kildare on 22nd January 2010 to consider the appeal of Mr. C. Roche, trainer, against the decision of the Acting Stewards at Navan on 19th December 2009, when following the running of the Santa Claus Maiden Hurdle he was fined €2,000 and Take A Stroll suspended from racing for 60 days, as the Stewards found that the racecourse had been used as a training ground.

Evidence was heard from Mr. Lorcan Wyer, Stewards Secretary and Mr. C. Roche.  Videos of the race were also viewed.

Having considered the evidence the Appeals Body allowed the appeal as they were not satisfied that the racecourse had been used as a training ground.  They were also satisfied that the horse had run on its merits.
