thebookiesoffers.co.uk Handicap (Division Two) & D.J. Bunyan, trainer of Manzanita, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Wednesday 28th August that his charge stumbled during this race and as a result lost her action and was subsequently found to have pulled muscles in her back.
Downpatrick Meeting, 26th August 2013
The Stewards fined the following trainers in respect of their non-runners:-.
Eoin Doyle, trainer of Romeo Is Bleeding (Off Feed) - €200.
James M. Barrett, trainer of Like A Ballerina (Off Feed) - €200.
The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of rider at this meeting:-
D.J. Casey rode Music On D Waters (reserve), trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin (Race 2).
231B Win A Diamond Ring Today Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from J.J. Lambe, trainer of the winner Daytime Dreamer, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s most recent form over hurdles.
The trainer reported that his instructions to the rider were to drop the horse out and hopefully run into a place. As it turned out the race seemed to be run to suit him with a strong pace and his horse ran on very well past horses that had been ridden more prominently. The horse was also fitted with cheekpieces for the first time today over hurdles and that also possibly helped.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
The Stewards interviewed R.P. Treacy, rider of Jabus, placed fourth, concerning his riding in the closing stages of this race when he appeared to stop riding for the last number of strides, thereby losing third place.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that R.P. Treacy was in breach of Rule 212 in that he had failed to take all reasonable measures to ensure that his horse was given a full opportunity to obtain the best possible placing.
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended R.P. Treacy for five race days (10th, 11th, 15th, 16th and 17th September) and ordered him to forfeit his riding fee.
231C Giltspur Scientific Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed E. Mullins, rider of Bowfinger, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that E. Mullins was in breach of Regulation 10 3.(f) in that he had used his which with excessive frequency and Regulation 10 4 in that he did not give his mount time to respond.
Having taken his good record into account, the Stewards therefore severely cautioned him regarding his future use of the whip.
231D Downpatrick Handicap Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Benefique, trained by D.M. Fogarty, and reported that the animal was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.
231E Fran Murrin Memorial Maiden Hurdle & M.J. Bolger, rider of Nell’s Nan, trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung off the bends and did not fully handle today’s ground.
The Stewards fined C.A. McBratney, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Butney Boy in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
231F Willie Murphy Jewellers Downpatrick Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed D.J. Condon, rider of the winner Lily Of Killarney, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.J. Condon was in breach of Regulation 10 3(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and Regulation 10 4 in that he did not give his mount time to respond.
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (10th and 11th September).
The Stewards interviewed A.P. Heskin, rider of Friendly Society, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that A.P. Heskin was in breach of Regulation 10 3.(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and Regulation 10 4 in that he did not give his mount time to respond.
Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (10th and 11th September).
Ballinrobe Meeting, 27th August 2013
232A Ballinrobe Racecourse Of The Year Maiden & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Shield, trained by A.P. O’Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be clinically abnormal post race.
I.J. Brennan, rider of Rural Retreat (USA), trained by P. Cluskey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung right in this race.
2332C Breaffy House Resort Rated Race & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Lady O Malley, trained by Joseph G. Murphy, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
232F Corrib Oil Handicap Steeplechase & D.N. Russell, rider of Claragh Native, trained by A.L.T. Moore, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount shortened his action approaching the finish of this race.
Killarney Meeting, 28th August 2013
The Stewards received a report from Mr Chris Gordon, Head of Turf Club Security, regarding an incident in the stable yard.
Evidence was heard from Mr Gordon, Mr Frank Clune, Turf Club Security, and Mr Michael O’Connor, Killarney Racecourse employee.
Ms Maria O’Brien, Authorised Representative for Mr Donal Kinsella, trainer, and Mr Aidan Wall, box driver for Mr Kinsella, were requested to attend the enquiry but declined to do so.
Having considered the evidence and taken into consideration the fact that both Ms O’Brien and Mr Wall declined to attend the enquiry, the Stewards referred the matter to the Chief Executive of the Turf Club for further investigation.
233A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C&G) Maiden & W.J. Lee, rider of Ruler Of France (GB), trained by David Wachman, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung left in the closing stages of this race.
233C Colin Counihan Tarmac Handicap & P.J. Smullen, rider of Beat The Ballot, trained by Tracey Collins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount moved poorly in the early stages of this race.
F.M. Berry, rider of Measured Approval, trained by Patrick J. Flynn, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung left in this race.
233F Robin Parke Memorial Handicap & L.F. Roche, rider of Shalaman, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not get a clear run in the straight in this race.

234E Bet Online At Thetote.com Novice Steeplechase & D.N. Russell, rider of Spring Heeled, trained by J.H. Culloty, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount received accidental interference after the second last fence in this race.
R.M. Power, rider of Burn And Turn, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount received accidental interference after the second last fence in this race.

234G Seamusweldon.com I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards received a report from P.L. Malone, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that Mr C.W. Fennessy, rider of Court Frontier, weighed in 2.3.lbs. overweight.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Rule 231.
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (15th September).
Down Royal Meeting, 30th August 2013

C.D. Maxwell, rider of Golden Diva, trained by H. Fitzpatrick, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost his hind legs and slipped up in this race.

235E Tayto Group Handicap Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Annakrista (GER), trained by Mervyn Torrens, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be showing signs of being in season post race.
235F Pepsico Handicap Hurdle & C.D. Maxwell, rider of Presenting Kate, trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled in this race.

236A Tadgh Clifford Groundcare 3-y-o Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards fined R.J. Jones, rider of Haverstock, €200 in accordance with Rule 196(v) for failing to present himself to be weighed out for this race.
236C McSweeney Arms Hotel Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards received a request from T.J. O’Meara, trainer of Eagle’s Pass, to allow D.G. Hogan weigh out three pounds overweight in this race.
In view of the exceptional circumstances, the Stewards allowed the request. In arriving at their decision, the Stewards took into account the fact that there were two National Hunt fixtures on the day and the fact that the horse was a reserve. In addition the racecourse sauna was only working intermittently.
236D Kelly Foley & Co. In Association With Lloyd Fitzpatrick Accountants (C&G) Beginners Steeplechase & D.E. Splaine, rider of Choisir Fin, trained by Denis Leahy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled in this race.
236F Ladbrokes Handicap Steeplechase & D.N. Russell, rider of Toner D’Oudairies (FR), trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled and was therefore pulled up.
236G Pat O’Sullivan Catering Equipment I.N.H. Flat Race & Ms. N. Carberry, rider of Tilthemidnighthour (GB), trained by C.F. Swan, reported to the Stewards’ Secretaries that her mount was struck into in this race and was therefore pulled up.

237C Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Nursery & M. Halford, trainer of Bleeding Hearts, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 2nd September, that his charge was found to be lame post race.
237F KWD Handicap Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Tribes And Banner, trained by C.F. Swan was found to be post race normal.
237G Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into an incident in the back straight in this race involving the winner Baidin Fheilimi, ridden by P.A. Gallagher, Shantalla, ridden by B.F. Cawley, placed second, Coosan Belle, ridden by B. Hayes, and Benson’s Point, ridden by D.E. Splaine, after it appeared that Coosan Belle clipped heels and fell.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and they therefore took no further action.
D.E. Splaine, rider of Benson’s Point, trained by J.H. Culloty, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up lame in this race.
Curragh Meeting, 1st September 2013
238B Go And Go Round Tower Stakes & The Stewards fined David Wachman, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Danehill Brook in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
238C Dance Design Stakes & P.J. Smullen, rider of Along Came Casey, trained by D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran flat in this race.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Along Came Casey at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
238D Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund ‘Be My Guest’ Fillies Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from W.P. Mullins, trainer of the winner Levanto, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horses recent form.
The trainer reported that, in hindsight, he had probably run the filly back too quickly at Leopardstown last time after she ran poorly at Naas the week before.
He said that today the filly was running after having had a much longer break and that appeared to help her return to form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted its contents.
238E Moyglare Stud Stakes & The Stewards enquired into three instances of possible interference in the straight. The first incident involved Kiyoshi (GB), ridden by J.P. Spencer, placed second, and Tapestry, ridden by J.P. O’Brien, placed third.
The second incident involved Kiyoshi (GB), Perhaps, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed fifth, and Wonderfully, ridden by Ryan Moore, placed sixth.
The third incident involved the winner Rizeena, ridden by James Doyle, Kiyoshi (GB) and Tapestry.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Kiyoshi (GB) had improved her placing in relation to Tapestry, and they therefore reversed those placings to read as follows:- Second: Tapestry and Third: Kiyoshi (GB).
The Stewards were furthermore of the opinion that J.P. Spencer was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly.
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for four race days (16th, 17th, 18th and 19th September).
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Touch Of Snow, trained by John Joseph Murphy, and reported the animal to have suffered a nose bleed during the running of this race.
238F Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Irish Cambridgeshire & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Francis Of Assisi, trained by A.P. O’Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
F.M. Berry, rider of Anderiego, trained by David O’Meara, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not handle today’s fast ground.
238G Free To Speak Apprentice Handicap & The Stewards interviewed Denis Coakley, authorised representative for Denis W. Cullen, trainer of Daring Man, concerning the fact that this horse burst a blood vessel and crashed through the rails as a consequence. The Stewards noted that this was the second time this horse had burst a blood vessel.
Evidence was heard from the trainer’s representative.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards, using their powers under Rule 14, suspended Daring Man for sixty days.
