Prior to Mr. McConnell giving his evidence, the Stewards reminded him that this was the fourth occasion for Arabela to be withdrawn for refusing to load, but noted that it was only the second occasion while in his care.
Evidence was heard from Mr. McConnell, who stated that this mare behaves very well at home and was recently re-certified without difficulty.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards suspended Arabela for 60 days from races starting from stalls. The Stewards also informed Mr. McConnell that she would have to be re-certified before being eligible to be declared to run from stalls again.

Tramore Meeting, 2nd June 2012

The Stewards interviewed Ms. Sue Phelan, General Manager of Tramore Racecourse, and Mr. P.F. Graffin, Turf Club Clerk of the Course, concerning the watering procedures which took place overnight producing ground that was officially described as Good to Firm, Soft in places.
In his evidence Mr. Graffin explained that on leaving the track on Friday night, the ground was Good to Firm and with little or no rain forecast he advised minimal light watering to maintain the ground as described and prevent it from quickening to Firm. On arriving at the track before midday, he found that the ground was Good to Firm along the backstraight but the dip at the bottom of the turn for home had been excessively watered and in his opinion was unsafe, while the home straight was also soft. He explained how he had since worked with the course staff to lay out the track on the best of the ground. He said that he was satisfied racing could safely proceed on this new track layout.
In her evidence Ms. Phelan explained that the track was watered under supervision by tanker until approx 11.30 last night but watering continued unsupervised for about another hour afterwards and she accepted full responsibility for this oversight.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. Graffin had complied with his responsibilities with regard to Regulation 9 (Watering of Racecourses) and accepted his explanation offered and took no further action.
The Stewards were, however, of the opinion that the Racecourse Manager was in breach of Regulation 9 in that she had overwatered parts of the racecourse, thus altering the ground description, by having failed to supervise the watering of the track by tanker as described in the regulation.
Having taken her good record in this regard into account, the Stewards severely cautioned Ms. Phelan and recommended that a new, more accurate watering system be employed in future under strict supervision to prevent a reoccurrence of this matter. Furthermore, they reminded her that a breach of Regulation 9 in the future may render her liable to be referred to the Referrals Committee.

128F Follow Tramore On Facebook Handicap & The Stewards received a report from Mr. J.R. Banahan, Turf Club Starter, stating the false start in this race was as a result of Mister Music Man, whipping around and facing the wrong way as the rest of the field approached the tape.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

The Stewards interviewed D.M. Grant, rider of Hangar Five, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.M. Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore severely cautioned him.

Dalton, rider of Liberty Counsel, and A.P. Heskin, rider of Audrelles Lad, approaching the tape too quickly.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted it.

129E Kilbeggan Beginners Steeplechase & The Stewards enquired into possible interference (Rule 214) in the closing stages involving the winner Tackmaster, ridden by D.N. Russell, and Canaly, ridden by B.J. Cooper, placed second, after it appeared that the latter suffered interference.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that interference had taken place, but they could not be satisfied that  Tackmaster had improved his finishing position as a result of this interference and they therefore made no alteration to the Judge’s placings.
The Stewards were, however, of the opinion that  D.N. Russell was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (20th and 22nd June).

Moran, trainer of the winner  Page One Two Nine, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge, particularly compared with the horse’s previous run at Limerick on the 20th May, where he finished eighth of 12 finishers and was beaten approximately 46 lengths.
Mr. Moran reported that the Limerick race was the horses first run in seven months and that the animal benefited fitness wise from that outing. He said that at Limerick the horse was held up, and so today they decided to ride him handily, and he seemed to enjoy the change in tactics. He also said his charge has shown a likeness for Kilbeggan in the past, and that the combination of these factors may have brought about any apparent improvement in form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

Brennan, placed fifth, Toufan Express (GB), ridden by D.P. McDonagh, and Cnocan Diva, ridden by S.A. Gray, both unplaced, after it appeared that the latter ran short of room and had to check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned in the presence of Mr. James Stack, representing Mr. T. Stack, trainer, and Master of S.A Gray.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards deemed that the video evidence was inconclusive and they therefore took no further action.

130E Jackie & Gene Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed N.J. O’Shea, rider of Enter The Indian, placed second, and trained by Mr. Aidan Anthony Howard, concerning his riding from the home turn to the winning post.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that the horse missed the second last hurdle and after eventually gathering his mount together, he was too close to the final hurdle to ask the animal for a serious effort. He added that while his mount jumped the last very well, the winner jumped it very well too and he was unable to close the defecate.
Evidence was also heard from the trainer concerned, who expressed his satisfaction with the ride given.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

130H Listowel Whit Weekend Handicap & The Stewards received a complaint from Mr. Ger Flynn, representing Mr. J.S Bolger, trainer, concerning the fact that there was no Racecourse Veterinary Surgeon present at the start prior to the withdrawal of their charge Misteireach (USA) from this race after becoming fractious in stalls.
The Stewards subsequently interviewed Mr. T.V. O’Connell, Turf Club Clerk of the Course, and Mr. Derek Cullen, Turf Club Starter.
Mr. O’Connell stated that the layout of the track where any races start from the chute does not lend itself to access for vehicles and consequently the Racecourse Veterinary Surgeon is in situ at the junction of the round course and the chute.
Mr. Cullen confirmed that the Racecourse Veterinary surgeon is a short distance from the start but in this instance the rider was not satisfied with the filly when she was taken out of stalls and a decision was made to withdraw her.
The Stewards informed Mr. O’Connell that new procedures would have to be immediately put in place for all races from the chute to ensure that a Racecourse Veterinary Surgeon is present at the start in the event that his services are required.
