Irish Racing Calendar, 28th March 2013

The following trainer was fined €200 for the non-notification of a Veterinary Certificate in accordance with the provision of Rule 194 (v) (vi):- Oliver J. Power for Blue Dynasty (USA) (stone bruise) at Limerick on 16th March.

Navan Meeting, 18th March 2013

The Stewards granted permission for hurdle number two and fence number four to be omitted from today’s meeting in the interest of safety due to ground conditions. 

The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of rider at this meeting:-
P.F. Mangan replaced  M.A. Enright on Hillman, trained by John J. Walsh (Race 6) Injured.

052A PGA’S at Navan Golf Club Maiden Hurdle & C.P. Donoghue, trainer of The Four Gees, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his charge scoped badly post race.

052C Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Novice Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed R.P. Treacy, rider of Maccas Lad, placed fourth, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that R.P. Treacy was in breach of R10(3)(c), in that he unnecessary hit his horse that clearly has obtained its maximum placing.
Having taken his previous record in this regard into account,  the Stewards therefore suspended him for seven race days (1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th April).

052E Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Novice Handicap Steeplechase & D.J. Condon, rider of Please Talk, trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was found to have a burst blood vessel post race. This was confirmed to the Stewards by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.

052G Cyril Carty Navan Golf President (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards interviewed Mr M.P. Fogarty, rider of the winner Makethedifference, concerning his use of the whip inside the final 100 yards of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr Fogarty was in breach of R10(4) in that he failed to give his mount time to respond.
Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (1st and 2nd April).  

The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final 100 yards involving the winner Makethedifference, ridden by Mr M.P. Fogarty, and Kandinski, ridden by Mr C. McSweeney, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.

Cork Meeting, 21st March 2013

053A Walk Of Shame Furlong Maiden Hurdle & R.J. Jones, rider of Sea Light trained by C. Byrnes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran free early, jumped poorly and may improve on better ground.

053B www.racinghomeforeaster.com Hurdle & A.E. Lynch, rider of Won In The Dark, trained by Sabrina J. Harty, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost his action and was therefore pulled up.

053C Cit Su Handicap Hurdle & Roger Loughran, rider of Might Be Magic (GB), trained by Thomas Foley, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount suffered slight interference leaving the back straight in this race.

053D UCC Horse Racing Society Handicap Hurdle & A.D. Leigh, rider of Blazing Sonnet, trained by W.J. Austin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost her action and was therefore pulled up.

A.F. O’Neill, rider of Mini Vic, trained by Miss Elizabeth Doyle, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his saddle slipped and as a result unseated his mount on pulling up.

053F Best Dressed Easter Sunday Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Fran Flood, representing F. Flood, trainer of the winner Peace In The West, regarding the apparent improvement in form of their charge compared with the horse’s recent form.
Mr Flood reported that the horse disappointed on his last run when never travelling. Regarding today’s improved run it was attributed to a change in tactics, by making the running.
Having considered the report the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

Curragh Meeting, 24th March 2013

The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of his non-runner:-
James M. Barrett for Lake Storm (off feed) 200.

056C Macari’s Supporting The Kildare Rose Handicap & F.M. Berry, rider of Bird’s Eye View (GB), trained by T. Stack, reported to the Steward’s Secretaries that his saddle slipped in the early stages and that he was unable to ride his mount out thereafter.

056F BetVictor Irish Lincolnshire &The Stewards enquired into an incident in the
straight involving Custom Cut, ridden by R.P. Whelan, Croi An Or, ridden by W.M.
Lordan, Miracle Cure, ridden by K.J. Manning, and Ansaab (GB), ridden by C.D.
Hayes, all unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were
of the opinion that C.D. Hayes had ridden carelessy (Rule 214).
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended
him for two race days (7th and 8th April).

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Anton Chigurh (GB), trained by Tom Dascombe (in GB) was found to be clinically normal post race. Subsequently the trainer reported to the Stewards’ Secretaries that his charge scoped abnormally post race.

P.J. Smullen, rider of Tandem, trained by D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards’
Secretaries that his mount ran short of room in the straight in this race.
