The Stewards requested a report from Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Hathiq, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Denis Gerard Hogan stated that his charge underwent a soft palate operation after its previous run and got a break from racing for a few weeks as a result of this. He felt a combination of both had helped tp bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Sun Sign, trained by Mrs Denise Foster, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
The Stewards informed Mrs. Denise Foster, trainer of Sun Sign, that a repeat display from her charge who was withdrawn by order of the stewards having refused to go to the start may render the animal liable to suspension.
The Stewards interviewed Mrs. Denise Foster, trainer of Sun Sign after it appeared a member of her staff used an item to prompt her charge to the start. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned, who accepted this was the case and apologised for the incident and gave the Stewards assurances that such a situation would not reoccur. Having viewed a recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Ms. Foster was in breach of Regulation 13 and having considered her record in this regard, they severely cautioned her on this occasion.
219D Coolmore Caravaggio StakesThe Stewards received a request at scales from A.P.O'Brien, trainer of Harpocrates, through his authorised representative T.J. Comerford, to substitute the nominated rider J.A. Heffernan, with D. O'Brien nominated rider of Vitalogy(GB), trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, as his intended mount was a non runner having been withdrawn before the close of card owing to a change of going. Having considered the request, the Stewards were satisfied that the request did not conform with the requirements of Regulation 3 and therefore denied the request. Subsequently, the Stewards received a request from Mr. Comerford, acting on behalf of Mr A.P.O'Brien to address the Stewards requesting them to reconsider their earlier decision and outline reasons for the substitution. Having considered Mr. Comerford's submissions, the Stewards were still satisfied that the reason for the rider substitution did not conform with the requirements of Regulation 3 and ordered that their original decision stand.
