378A Ryans Cleaning Veterans H'cap S'chase

The Stewards interviewed G.B. Noonan, rider of Dubai Devils, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of Regulation 10. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that G.B. Noonan was in breach of R10.3(g)(frequency) and R10.3(i)(time to respond) and having considered his record they suspended him for 4 racedays.

The Stewards received a request from Patrick J.F. Hassett, trainer of Mosstown Miller, to substitute the nominated rider C.P. McNamara (stood down) with P.K. Donovan, who would be weighing out at 3lbs overweight. The trainer stated despite his best efforts, he was unable to secure the services of a rider who could make the weigh at short notice and failure to allow permission would mean he would have to withdraw his charge. Having considered the request, the Stewards allowed the overweight on this occasion under the provisions of Rule 198(vii)(b).

The Stewards requested a report from J.F. Levins, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Wishmoor, placed first, as compared with its recent form. J.F. Levins reported that his charge found the ground too quick on its last two outings. He attributed the testing conditions today alongside the drop in class as having brought about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the contents of the report.
