159A Croom Claiming Race

P.A. Harnett, rider of Kuwait Direction trained by James McAuley, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was uneasy in the stalls.

The Stewards interviewed D.W. O'Connor, rider of Robert Guiscard, concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles. Evidence was heard from D. W. O'Connor who accepted that he was in breach of the rule. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered evidence from the rider, the Stewards were satisfied that D. W. O'Connor was in breach of Rule 211 and having considered his record in this regard the Stewards suspended D. W. O'Connor for one raceday.

At the request of the Stewards, J.M. Sheridan, rider of Turbine, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not have the pace to make the running, which were his instructions, and then stayed on one paced and would most likely appreciate a step up in trip.

159D Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) M'dn

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Lady Leanora, ridden by O.J. Orr, unplaced, Glinting, ridden by E.J. McNamara, placed second and Rosscarbery (GER), ridden by R.C. Colgan, placed third, where it appeared that Lady Leanora ran short of room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. O. J. Orr stated that his run was over and he was dropping back when he had to check and it did not cost him anything. E. J. McNamara stated that his mount was green and rolled around in front. R. C. Colgan stated that the horse in front of him shifted right just as he went for the gap. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards gave R. C. Colgan the benefit of the doubt on this occasion and took no further action.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Glinting, ridden by E.J. McNamara, placed second and Rosscarbery (GER), ridden by R.C. Colgan, placed third, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. E. J. McNamara stated that his mount was green and rolled back to the rail. R. C. Colgan stated that there was minor contact but it did not affect him. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while there was minor contact between the pair, Glinting had not improved it's finishing position as a result and they made no alteration to the Judge's placings and took no further action.

159E1 Patrickswell Apprentice H'cap

D.N. Curran, rider of Ardamir (FR) trained by P.F.O'Donnell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away.

P.A. Harnett, rider of Assam (GB) trained by Martin Paul Fitzgerald, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away.

S.T. McCullagh, rider of Rodney Bay trained by Joseph Anthony Murray, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.

The Stewards interviewed D.N. Curran, rider of Ardamir (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the Regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that D. N. Curran was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g, excessive frequency, and i, time to respond. Having considered D. N. Curran's record in this regard the Stewards suspended D. N. Curran for three racedays.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Rodney Bay, trained by Joseph Anthony Murray, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

159E2 Patrickswell Apprentice H'cap

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Cu Roi, trained by John Joseph Murphy, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards requested a report from Ray Hackett, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Sequoiaspirit, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Ray Hackett stated that his charge has recently been disappointing on slower ground over hurdles and the return to better ground had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation given.

The Stewards interviewed H.J. Horgan, rider of Rebel Ruler, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the regulation and apologised. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that H. J. Horgan was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g, excessive frequency. Having considered H. J. Horgan's record in this regard the Stewards suspended H. J. Horgan for seven racedays.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Secret Wizard, ridden by Ciara Flynn, and trained by Paul W. Flynn. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Ciara Flynn, stated that her instructions were to jump out and sit where ever her mount was comfortable. She added that she was happy in front but someone was shouting to pull back which she did. Furthermore, she added that she is inexperienced and was quite tired in the closing stages and she felt she was pushing her mount out to the best of her ability. Paul W. Flynn, confirmed the instructions given and acknowledged that Ciara Flynn should be seen to make more of an effort in the closing stages. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Secret Wizard was post race normal. Samples were taken for further analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations given and took no further action other than to remind Ciara Flynn of her responsibilities to be seen to make more of an effort in the closing stages.

159G LimerickRaces.ie Median Auction M'dn

The Stewards received a report from the Irish Horse Racing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, that she was unable to positively identify Pessoa, trained by John Joseph Murphy, from the markings contained in the passport presented for this horse. Evidence was heard from George Murphy, Authorised Representative for the trainer, and from the I.H.R.B Veterinary Officer. George Murphy stated that the wrong horse had been brought to the course and accepted that the animal presented as Pessoa was in fact an unnamed two year old colt. Having considered the report and the evidence, the Stewards, pursuant to the provisions of Rule 90(iv), ordered the withdrawal of Pessoa and referred the matter to a Senior Racing Official for further investigation. Mr. J. McGuire, Acting Steward and Mr. G. Coughlan, Acting Steward, did not attend this enquiry and were replaced by Mr. C. Sweeney.

At the request of the Stewards, L.F. Roche, rider of On The Third Day, trained by Mrs Prunella Dobbs, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran green throughout and ran on one paced when having to check due to traffic.
